Make a Wine Barrel Storage Table

Due to the theme, I used as a shelf the grid of an original Weber Grill with 22".

Really enjoyed the Video of your work. My Father recently built a wine barrel table for my wife and me he joined 4 of the top rounds to make a 4 leaf clover type table top it turned out really nice. The door hinge we have for the storage is not what he had hoped for the door sags a bit..The hinges you used look to be the perfect solution. I looked in the comments below but could not find the link to the hinges you mentioned in one of your replies. I was hoping you wouldn't mind posting it again.

Thank you! The hinges are referred in German as "Kistenband" and are available at us in every hardware store. They are similar to "strap hinges" (rectangular instead of triangular shape) www.amazon.de/Scharniere-verzinkt-halbbreit-Gr%C3%B6%C3%9Fen-w%C3%A4hlbar/dp/B075QD81VV/ref=sr_1_5?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=kistenband&qid=1574001280&sr=8-5&th=1

Very cool project, not sure I get the BBQgrate. I presume a serving tray function? Adaptable to what ever shelf you want, but made me wonder.
@CP-MakeItReal
@CP-MakeItReal 5 жыл бұрын
Many Thanks. I have taken the BBQ grate because I store my BBQ accessories in the barrel - it stands next to my grill (seen in another video). So it just goes well with the theme and if some grease gets to the tray, the grate is easy to clean (In the barrel bottom I have inserted as a protection a plastic disc). But it is easily replaced by any other shelf.
@allenwilson9656
@allenwilson9656 4 жыл бұрын
Cool idea for the grate but why did you use the hinge grate with the removable center. You could have just used the standard grate and would have been cheaper ? The hinge grate is in the upper $ 30 and the standard grate is in the $20 range? I'm just curious 🤷‍♂️

I'm having trouble planning my hinges. This might be the way I go. But why put the ring on the inside? Won't the outside steel ring hold everything together?
@CP-MakeItReal
@CP-MakeItReal 4 жыл бұрын
I was afraid that the outer rings would bend with longer use. They are basically just drawstrings that pull the boards together and keep them in shape. Cut through, they now have to absorb bending stress when opening (and closing) the door. This should now be reduced by the additional inner bands.

Hi. I installed the hinges with a bit of pretension and to relieve the hinges, I installed a double ball catch as a lock. The door therefore rests slightly on the lock when it is closed. Works pretty well so far.

Hello, I have bought the hinges in the next hardware store (The hinges are also available at Amazon - see link with the dimensions 250mmx40mm) . I made the cut only for visual reasons - due to the bend, the hinge looks visually diagonal - after cutting they run approximately parallel to the outside barrel rings. www.amazon.de/Scharniere-verzinkt-halbbreit-Gr%C3%B6%C3%9Fen-w%C3%A4hlbar/dp/B075QD81VV/ref=pd_sbs_60_8?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B075QD81VV&pd_rd_r=b3034978-feb6-11e8-b808-fdb51f2211df&pd_rd_w=7xTJ4&pd_rd_wg=WMZCJ&pf_rd_p=51bcaa00-4765-4e8f-a690-5db3c9ed1b31&pf_rd_r=MDHPDA8ZBA66TRCFZMM6&psc=1&refRID=MDHPDA8ZBA66TRCFZMM6

Thanks. Would you recommend using an angle grinder to make the cuts over a plunge cut with a circular saw, and why?@@CP-MakeItReal
@CP-MakeItReal
@CP-MakeItReal 5 жыл бұрын
I have seen videos were the cuts are made with a circular saw, but .... I was afraid that I would not achieve a horizontal cut in both axes with the circular saw. If you place the circular saw on the surface of the barrel, an sloping cut takes place. But I thought, if I cut freehand with the circular saw, the risk of jaming the saw blade is to high for me. Therefore my decision was to use an angle grinder with saw blade and the use of a guide. It worked great for me. But I think with appropriate caution, both variants work. Safety first!

You don't concern yourself with accommodating whiny lazy 'creators' that need everything handed to them. They actually don't need to be answered anyway. Their questions would indicate they won't build it anyway, they want to buy it at Walmart, particle board. Half the amusement of woodworking is coming up with an idea and figuring out how to do it.
