Personally, I think too many people misinterpret Ryan's "lack of reaction" as a lack of remorse. He was told his father's a mass murderer, that he's the product of grape, and that HE - a thirteen-year-old - has to be the one to take him out all in the span of like 3 minutes. He was trapped, overwhelmed, scared, and very clearly unaware of his own strength ... what you saw wasn't a cold-blooded killer, it was a child in shock. If Ryan was upset about Koi, Ryan is absolutely devastated by Grace.

I think the most glaring issue with Ryan as a character is the fact that he's portrayed as two seperate people - often within the same episode. For 20 minutes we'll have a kid struggling with his own identity, and having a hard time picking whatever road he wants to take - that's basically normal kid stuff, and I doubt anyone has a problem with it. Problem is.. for the remaining 20 minutes we'll get treated to something akin to a young Patrick Bateman - quietly (if not gleefully) instigating humiliation, or outright violence.. some really sociopathic stuff. Theres a reason why I've been reading a lot (and I mean a lot) of takes basically saying that people are done defending the character going forward - even in terms of his age and whatnot. In short.. I have very little doubt that they'll pull him back from the precipice in S5 - but the writing for "Ryan" has been abysmal for quite a while now.

The thing that you don’t understand is the Shapeshifter can copy peoples memories so everything she was saying about starlight was accurate the only time hughie was a little suspicious was the fact that she was a little too perfect and that was the only thing that was catching him off guard, but when it comes to something like that, I’m pretty sure anybody would be fooled by it only because sometimes you don’t really notice the little things but it would’ve been the same thing if the shape shifter became Hughie instead of starlight Now I do understand starlight initial anger because it was in the moment but you have to remember even if this guy knew that the shifter was acting like starlight what was he gonna do? the main thing here is that the shifter used starlight memories to catch him off guard and to throw away suspicion because the thing that they didn’t know about the shifter was the fact that they copy memories

Grace Mallory was the cause of their failure. If she hadn't pressured Ryan, he wouldn't have killed her, Butcher wouldn't have listened to Kessler and killed Neuman, the vice president wouldn't have been framed for murder and the Boys would have won. Sage had this all planned.

If Supes could die from bullets this show wouldn’t be 5 seasons loll and I’m not 100% sure Annie actually killed the shapeshifter, but you can definitely die by being choked out lol. BTW Hughie is the only one who understands everyone’s intentions and keeps things as safe as it can get. Him stopping Annie and Kimiko from attacking Butcher saved their lives because he knows Butcher wont stop until he kills them, and he doesnt want there to be an all out war, so he’s definitely becoming the only person The Boys should listen to. He knows where it can go and he’s the one thing keeping everyone from giving up and becoming monsters.

This finale had so much going on at once with a bunch of threads were closed off, though in a way that leaves everyone at their darkest. They really set that tone which makes Gen V and The Boys' final season so much more compelling. It's so hard not to like Hughie and Kimiko as the hearts of the team. Hope is a worrying thing in stories like this. 😅

Theory: Starlight lost her powers at the ranch, meaning she was likely infected with a mild strain of the airborne variant of the supe virus. She gets her powers back over time, meaning she’s likely developed an immunity to it, if not just a defense against the stronger variant designed to kill Homelander. She might be the cure.

I think they're going to use The Boys as bate to try and draw Butcher out. I think the next season of Gen V the heros will escape to either save The Boys or they're in the same encampment as them and they'll escape together. And...maybe...I doubt it...but maybe Ryan wil get a group of his own (teen titan like) to go against his father. Great season finale. Can't wait for Season 5.

@@MuziBn Being realistic I’m confident that I’d choose Mallory’s side over my father who didn’t even raise me, graped my mom, and killed a bunch of innocent people. Yes Mallory was trying to use him as a weapon but killing her isn’t acceptable. The only way I would’ve accepted this behavior is if he was scared to leave similar to Ashley because I know that being mentally trapped is real. Ryan genuinely feels sympathy and other emotions homelander it’s not even *just* out of genuine fear.
