Sandy, Love your video. I’m a HUGE wax seal fanatic. A couple of fun things to also try. 1. You can stamp your wax stamp into some Versamark embossing ink and you will find your wax stamp will release from your wax a bit easier for those more detailed stamp heads. 2. You can also dip your stamp into embossing ink and then into some Perfect Pearls before you stamp into your wax to give your image a different affect. 3. I found for a cheaper option to cut up Crayola Crayons and inexpensive glue sticks to make your own wax. (Cut into 1/4” pieces). Melt 4 pieces glue sticks to 2 pieces crayons. Crayola makes a Pearl set that is very pretty. 4. If your wax gets bubbles in it, it’s too hot. 5. You don’t want to pour on to wax paper as it sticks, but either a Ranger craft mat or even parchment paper works great. A left over piece of smooth glossy tile or granite is great as the stone is cool and sets the seals quickly. 6. Stamp onto non stick surface and they come off in one piece. Then add some double sided adhesive tape to create stickers to mass produce and add as embellishments for easy alignment. (Also posted this comment on your blog post). Hope these “tips” are helpful.

Two more tips to add- You can also pour the wax over some ribbon or dried flowers etc and then add your stamp. To bring out the detail of the stamp a bit more, use a metallic coloured alcohol pen on its side, and rub it over the stamped detail 😊

I’ve been able to completely peel it off of wax so I don’t find it isn’t usable that way. But I also only want to pour it on the finished project. Mass production of them ahead is the antithesis of why I like wax seals. And yes I know about all theses techniques-I won’t use crayons though, same reason. I want wax with the correct resin in it, not glue stick.

When I was little, my dad would play his guitar and I would sing "Puff the Magic Dragon" with him. One of the lines in the song is "Little Jackie Paper, loved that rascal, Puff. He'd bring him strings and CEILINNG wax, and other fancy stuff." Or at least that's what I thought the line was, since I didn't know what sealing wax was. I think part of the reason that I like "sealing wax" so much is because I have this childhood memory, associated with it, and kind of an "aha" moment where I realized that "sealing wax" makes SO much more sense than wax that would be put on the ceiling. 🤣

I used to think ceiling wax too! You just blew my mind! 🤯😍😍😍

Beautiful card! I pour my wax seals on a silicone mat. They peal right off and I glue them where I want them and no one the wiser 🤓

Lol I would be. 😜 Theres a look you can only get from poured wax. 😂

@@SandyAllnock1 true, and the wax is still poured and looks just like you pored where you wanted it.
@SandyAllnock13 жыл бұрын
@@pamelabarbee6615 I find that it does look glued on instead of poured… Either you have to use enough glue that it splooges out the edges, or it doesn’t stick all the way down. Neither happens when it’s poured directly. Which for me is a seal of authenticity rather than a glued on sticker. 😍

Just a tip if you use your anti static powder on the sheet you use to catch up the embossing powder it will go into your bottle easier..

I use the heat gun with the wafer wax which melts fairly quickly and have never had a problem with the burning the paper.

I like the glue stick ones. And I've seen if you do them on non stick surface, you can remove them and actually glue them on your project. Your cards are pretty💗

I think the last card still works even with the Y being covered by the wax because it is a heart shape inside the wax seal which looks like an intentional heart shaped Y instead of the letter. I have seen the word You drawn that way before and always thought it looked quite nice. As Bob Ross would say "There are no mistakes, only happy accidents."

Thank you for being a tester of products so we learn without all the extra work! I understand the pull towards price instead of quality. But quality is usually worth the price. TFS

So pretty, so elegant. Rut-roh....a new rabbit hole to go down..... I appreciate your videos so I have a better idea of what I want. I thought I wanted the glue gun type, but maybe not....

You’ve inspired me to get out my wax seal supplies that I haven’t used for awhile. I don’t have a heating spoon like yours, I just use my heat gun.
@sherrywoods46303 жыл бұрын
Betty, how do you do that? Do you put the wax bits directly on your project and melt them with the heat gun? I’d be afraid of burning my paper.
@margaretpolly33813 жыл бұрын
My experience suggests that when the wax doesn't melt well it's because my flame has become too low.
@SandyAllnock13 жыл бұрын
I think I was a little impatient there 😂
@ruthmoore16803 жыл бұрын
Have you ever used your heat gun to melt the wax? I use it with the spoon and it works fine but you do have to hold it. It’s pretty fast and since I’m not a patient crafter . . . I also have used the gun to melt what I have already pressed on the envelope to repress it better and that works too if you’re careful not to burn the paper. 😉

I wrecked one while stamping and tried the heat gun to remelt to restamp it. It worked, but not well 🥰
