I came to see how to make a real eyepatch too. I have one eye that gets really tired when I try to use my PC for long periods. I can close the eye, but then it gets even more tired. An eye patch covers my eye so that no light comes in. Thereby, I can keep it open, but not use it. This looks awesome, but it will let light in behind the patch, which negates the effectiveness of the patch.

Thanks! What kind of leather did you use for the backing? Does the veggitan leather come already dyed black? Or would it still need dying for the cut edges? Would a rivet in the center work to hold the elastic down as well? It could be covered by the backing still...

Backing was just some thinner chrome tan, I just picked something softer. Rivet could work, experimentation is always an idea. I dye and finish my edges for sure.

If you were going go tool it, would you do that before or after the water forming? The hot water would harden it, but the dishing would risk mucking up the tooling?

I'd form it with hot water then tool it on a curved surface like a ball stake or something. Then let it dry. Should be ok.
