This is the best video regarding the integration of the Breadlink RM devices with the Alexa. Especially the trick with the scene creation which then integrates directly with the Alexa, I couldn't find it before anywhere mentioned! Using this you can create scenes and Alexa routines for everything! Thank you so much!

This was really helpful. I have the RM4 Mini. If anyone has a 2017 Nvidia Shield which has no IR functionality, you can use a cheap PC remote that comes with a USB IR receiver to add that ability. Get the Broadlink to learn the signals from the remote, save it and create a scene for each button. It sounds like a chore but so is activating the Alexa NVIDIA SHIELD skill (which is completely useless).

That’s a great tip for anyone that has a Bluetooth remote. I use a harmony hub on all of my TVs with more than one remote.

Great video, very detailed and informative. I'm thinking about getting an RM4 Pro, but curious about the IR range. I have several IR candles in line across about 8', and about 8' from where the controller would go, on an opposing wall. Have you tested range? Also, is there just one directional IR beam from the RM4? Curious about how carefully you have to aim it.

Justin, another great way to integrate devices into our smart home, love it! I have Levelor automated blinds that work of a RF remote in the 2.40 - 2.48 GHZ range. My Bond controller doesn’t work with that freq., will the RM4PRO work at that frequency?
@SimplySmart1234 жыл бұрын
Yeah this is great to make those basic devices a little smarter! Unfortunately the BroadLink Wi-Fi Hub RM4 pro support RF (315MHz & 433MHz) so I don't think it will work with your blinds.

I've been wanting to do something like this for my daughter's room but hadn't even thought about smart home implementation. I tried one of the older generation Broadlinks to control my adjustable bed frame, but I had trouble with learning the rf signals from the original remote. Have you had a chance to connect an rf remote yet? Are you going to control theses lights from sharptools dashboards in addition to alexa? I'm currently using harmony remotes for my tvs but it would be great if i could use this device to be able to control my tvs and have the individual button commands as tiles on sharptools without having to rely on activities like harmony forces you to. It would be awesome to have a dashboard to be set up as a TV remote control and to be able to customize the buttons the way you want it. I am using harmony software but its clunky and doesn't work well for me .
@SimplySmart1234 жыл бұрын
With the RF signals it only works within certain bands and typically the bed frame remotes use some weird bands. I also try to control my adjustable bed frame like that but it was not going to work because of the bands that were used. Will not be able to use this with SharpTools unless you can get it connected to smart things. This is possible using virtual switches in SmartThings and using Alexa but it would get very messy. I’m trying to find out a way do you have to work directly with SmartThings without Alexa But with the new app things are getting difficult. You can definitely connect all of your TVs using this method but you would not be able to put it on the dashboard very easily but it would work with Alexa.

I would love to replace my Harmony with this, but I still want a physical remote that is not my phone. So when I got Harmony 2 years ago, I got the one with the remote. I can't seem to find any info weather the RMPro can be paired with a remote. Do you happen to know? If so what kinds (BT, IR, RF) or brands? Great video for setup. thx
@SimplySmart1234 жыл бұрын
I would keep your how many remote for all of your audio and video equipment. It is far superior than the RM pro mainly because it has the remote control. Are use a harmony remote with all of my TVs that have more than one remote required. I heard that they were coming out with a remote but it has not hit the market yet And I don’t think it can connect to other universal remotes either. The Broadlink RM Pro is capable of learning commands and it can learn most IR & RF functions. It will not work with Bluetooth. I am thinking about using it with my harmony hub that way I can easily pause and play with my voice using Alexa.

Thank you SO much, very informative and well done! I have a few questions, if you could provide answers I'd greatly appreciate it. I was using Harmony Hub (in 5 rooms) and alexa to voice command my home theatres, unfortunately, Yonomi is out of business so multiple Harmony hubs no longer work with voice commands in Alexa. 1. Can I set up routines to turn on the TV, Stereo, and Blu-Ray player and switch them all to the proper inputs with voice through Alexa with one command? 2. Can this be done in each room if I include the room name in the description ie turn on cave TV and it'll turn on the TV, Stereo, and firestick and put them all on the right inputs? 3. Everything is IR, can I use the Broadlink Mini 3 instead of the 4 Pro to do those same activities or scenes or is there an advantage of getting the Pro for the RF capabilities? 4. Harmony hubs had a limit of 8 devices per hub does Broadlink have a device limit per unit? 5. I have similar equipment in all the rooms as far as brands and devices If my equipment isn't listed in their remote database (I'm assuming popular devices have controls in their database?) would I have to learn the same devices in each room? Do you think Samsung TV's and Denon Receivers are in their database? My apologies for being so long-winded, I've been trying to find a solution for a few months now and really appreciate you helping out if you can.

in the Harmony app you can create activities that will do a series of command together.

Multiple hubs in harmony don't work with Alexa voice command anymore, Yonomi was the link and they're out of business. Wanted to know if Broadlink Mini 3 can do scenes in Alexa with multiple Home Theater devices and one voice command.

Question Please. I have an electric fireplace that has an IR remote. When go to add device there is nothing that resembles a fireplace, does it matter what i choose? If so, what appliance should i choose? I want to be able to say, Alexa, turn on Fireplace. The remote control button is the same button for on and off.

As long as the frequency is within range of the RM Pro, it will work.

In an addition to Simply Smart’s comment, I THINK the “templates” are just to assign the buttons, for example, if you want to control a tv, you don’t need a fan control button, so you shouldn’t have problem

@SimplySmart1234 жыл бұрын
As long as the fan remote controls are with in the frequency range of the RM pro for it will work. But the huge advantage of the bond controller is that it adds those devices to smart things where the RM pro would not.
