Make Cold Process Soap WITHOUT a Stick Blender

No stick blender? No problem! Soap has been around way longer than electricity, so this is a way to make your own soap without needing to buy lots of extra equipment. I do recommend a digital scale, however.
I created this video with a few people in mind. It can be overwhelming when you first start researching about soap making. It gets to be even more overwhelming when you see all the equipment. This is just my way of showing that you can be on a budget & still enjoy making your own soap. Thanks for watching! ♥
1:05 I forgot to mention safety glasses or face guard. Safety first!

@@Zara_4545 It took me a few minutes to find your comment. You can substitute for sunflower or pretty much any liquid oil you have on hand (except castor). Just keep in mind that any time you make changes to a recipe, you should run it through soapcalc.net to be sure you have the right amounts of lye for that particular oil. Good luck!

A friend used make soap years ago, before the invention of stick blenders. She said she really enjoyed it, except for all the stirring! Your idea is brilliant! It reminds me of giving the children a container with a jar in it to roll around vs. using a hand crank ice cream maker! Plus, I can get some arm exercise! 💪 Thanks for sharing!!

Hi. Awesome video. I'm going to practice soap making with my students. Could you tell me how to make the lye solution?
@TheElementSoap
@TheElementSoap 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bina, great question! Weigh out your water in a heat safe plastic or stainless steel container. Weigh out your lye in a separate container. Then slowly, very slowly pour the lye into the water while gently stirring. Here's a different video that shows me pouring the lye. Jump to 4:25 to get to that part of that video. Good luck to you and your students! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYmmnn6KfLWbZ5Y

I'm not trying to be funny but if you don't know how to make lye solution, then you shouldn't be teaching anyone how to make soap because it can get really dangerous. Hope you keep safe

Who tried this? Is this real, just a few seconds in a jar? Cause I've seen videos using whisk and it cost them hours, why aren't they doing this method?
@TheElementSoap
@TheElementSoap 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching. There are several factors that determine how fast soap batter gets to trace. I was mentoring a young lady who didn't have access to a stick blender, so I created a fast-tracing recipe. That coupled with the fact that I soap with fairly hot lye solution creates a super quick trace. I was quite new to KZbin filming when I made this, so I'll most likely create a new vid without editing out time between mixing & trace. Stay tuned! 💚

Would whisking work?
@TheElementSoap
@TheElementSoap 5 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried with whisking, but if you do be sure to use stainless steel or silicone only, no aluminum. Also be careful not to splash as raw soap batter is still caustic & can irritate/burn skin & damage surfaces. Whisking alone may take a considerable amount of time before you get to trace.

why those oils look like a mixed solution eish(confused)
@TheElementSoap
@TheElementSoap 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching. Yes The oils looks like they're already a solution, and that's because I'm using opaque oils (coconut & palm.) The olive oil is the only transparent oil in this recipe. I'll be uploading a new video soon that shows the process of me mixing the oils before adding the lye solution. Stay tuned!

Hi Charles! Sorry to hear that. Let's try to figure out what happened. Was your lye solution hot when you mixed it with your oils? I use heat transfer method to make soap & the lye is usually well over 100° when I add it to my oils.

@@TheElementSoap Thank you for the quick response! It finally traced at about the 45 minute mark. This method was still a lot easier than doing all that stirring. It might have taken so long because I warmed the fat up prior to finding your video, rather than using your technique. Also, I used only tallow as the fat source. Who knows..it all worked out in the end. Thanks again.
@TheElementSoap
@TheElementSoap 4 жыл бұрын
@@charleschristianson2730 That was my next question...the oil used. I specifically formulated the recipe for a student who didn't have access to soaping equipment. I needed it to trace fast, so I added palm oil. Either way, I'm so glad it worked out for you! Have an awesome week! 💚
