Make Currency at League Start with Essences!

Low-level Essence farming is dead in Patch 3.24! Well, sorta. In essence (hah), you just run the same basic strategy in t6 maps now instead of t1's. Essence Scarabs exist, and Essence Atlas Passives have been redesigned. Is it still good? Maybe! The one potential wrinkle that we will explore once the league is live is how the updated version of Crystal Resonance interacts with map bosses. It appears to grant map bosses one Essence from each Essence monster you kill in the map. Presumably the map bosses drop Essences, too, so you would want to kill them at the end of each map. On just the tree? No longer, because crystal resonance got obliterated to now just randomly empower a boss, and corrupting essences no longer removes the craptastic "free the mobs" (so if you take that notable, no more corrupted essences, ever). Einhar exile essence memories will be going STONKS.

Not too sure it's dead in white maps. It just seems you will need to farm well more maps to get the same "value" as we got before this patch. But like you said it will need to be tested to be sure how this will work.

Another tip I would say especially if you are trading for let's say 237x essences that comes in stacks of 9s is that you can press and hold "ALT" and it will count the essences in the trade. You can also use it on your own inventory or stash as well. I just found out that they finally implemented that count feature not too long ago so you know exactly you are getting what you paid for especially for large quantity stuff and you don't want to do math.

Yup, they added that this league, and it's great! In the next league, they're adding the ability to move all stackable items into trade windows with a single click. That's going to add even more QoL onto Essence farming & trading!

Do you think the following "essence rush" strategy is viable ? On the first character, I only validate one tier 1 map and the adjacent tier 2 maps, then I validate the tier 3 maps and above until I have enough Atlas points to claim all the essence nodes. Then I go back to cycling through the validated tier 1 and 2 maps to farm essences. The goal is to more easily drop tier 1 and tier 2 maps with a good layout

Yeah. The change is *probably* just to jump up to t6. We're going to experiment once the league is out and see how it affects bosses. If it turns them into instant death, that may not be a great strategy, but we have to test to be sure.

True, you can always use The Seventh Gate if it's not (like in this league). There's a good chance it will be in Necropolis since it wasn't in Affliction.

Not sure if you mentioned this or not, but if essence isn't on the map device you really have to use seventh gate to force it on in order to make this efficient.

Yup, Toxic Rain Pathfinder is amazing for this strategy. Miners, trappers, and totem builds of all flavors work really well for it, too, because they can pre-fire their damage, then release the Essence mob into a wall of instant death. Really, the damage requirement to kill a t1 essence mob with no map mods is super low, so just being able to move fast and stay alive is the main requirement!

It's a great strategy to transition into after you've run something like Essence for a while and are looking to do something that requires more investment. The main problem with Harvest is that it scales with Item Quantity & Pack Size, so it's great once your build is online and working well in high-tier maps, but not so much when you're ultra-poor.

Harvest really benefits on pack size/quant where as essence has no effect from quant/pack size. I did deli mirror for the deli orb chances and that worked quite well. But early league i would not recommend deli as youll probably just die everytime in early maps

Anyone who doesn't think essences are worth, they are. I farmed a Mageblood in like 10 hours. Purely doing essences. No other league mechanics. Essences are always worth it on the map device for 2c. You will always make your money back at the very least. Just depends if you are farming another mechanic as well and prefer to have that on the device. But if not, always worth.

Exactly! It's a really good mechanic for adding into other farm strategies that work well at low levels (such as Bestiary), because it requires so little investment in the Atlas Passive tree.

I believe u did it in current league. With overpriced essences and underpriced mageblood. So u know its not rly that big deal. Any hobo doing random shit could get a mageblood this league. For this league some really good measurement was a simplex amul

essence is the worst possible thing you can ever league start with, have done it 2 leagues in a row and prices drop to poop just 3 days in since everyone else is doing the exact same thing which makes it pointless
