Cheers for the support, totally agree, clay is nice to use, and does give a great strong base.🙏

@@ctscalemodellinguk Usually I use the clay for the buidings but I will consider it for the ground now !

Thats interesting, I have thought about how best to use it for buildings. Could it be done at 1:35? I have used it for tree trunks too in the past, but moved onto latex glue now.

@@ctscalemodellingukYes for the 1/35 . I used the DAS air dry Clay and it suits very well to me .

Nice little dio🙂👍 All the work you put into the vegetation paid off, looks good! Tank suits the scene perfectly too… Have to admit though not too keen on the ‘No more nails’ for the water effects. Perhaps more suitable for smaller puddles, doesn’t look like it’s gone completely translucent? Also it looks as if it ‘sits’ on top of the groundwork, maybe a damp brush would blend it into the soil around the edges?? A clear varnish added to the soil would then give a nice damp effect too….There’s so many options for water effects these days, nice to have this however as an option! Nice video - well explained 👏😊

Cheers for the advice, I agree with the no more nails, it went clear on one side but foggy on the other. I left it in case someone sees it and thinks they have a purpose for it. Still learning really and sometimes don’t have what I need. I always seem in a rush to finish a dio. Thx for watching, appreciate it.

Groundwork is superb! If I might offer a comment concerning the earth tone. After a year of service with an American mechanized infantry unit in northernmost South Vietnam, I feel qualified to observe that ALL bare earth in Vietnam has a distinctive red hue to it. When dry (moat of the time) it creates an insidious red dust that permeates EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE. A ballpoint pen needs its own point plow to cut a path through the dust on a piece of paper in order to write a note! Before splashing through to ford the stream, the M551 would be coated with thick, red dust top to bottom. Even wet (mud), the earth would be the distinctive red tone though it would appear darker. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Your techniques and talents are most considerable. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Many thanks for the positive feedback it is appreciated. This was my second go at Vietnam dio, I leaned a lot doing it. A couple of people have mention the soil, I was just going off an AK guide I had, and making my kits more dusty is a good point. Thanks for the support.

Cheers for watching it mate, Yes, I’m just using it to build a bunker. It was a decent experiment. The aquatic sand was a bit of a find and was really cheap.

The dio turned out really well.....good tip re the no more nails product but not sure whether it provides a realistic look as a stream. It's always good to experiment though. Resin is the best product but expensive although there's alternate products available but not as cheap as the product you used. Maybe the no more nails would be better suited to smaller puddles and the like??? Thanks for giving us an insight to your thinking.

Cheers for watching. I didn’t put right the foggy effect of no more nails as I wondered if it may be useful one day for someone. It is over paintable etc, but the one side looked fine, and to be honest I want to start my next dio project. I think the tree and using the clay were really positive outcomes for this dio. Thx again as always appreciate the support.

Fantastic work done on the base. Nicely explained steps of how you did it and great methods followed. Stream water hasn't dryed totally clear because the air cannot reach out the glue to make her dry clear. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend.
