@gower19735 жыл бұрын
I dont particulary care to make it to look like photoshop, but I do like the cleaner look and flow of this arrangement because the default GIMP layout is a total mess, at least with a layout like this it will be more comfortable to work in.
@LordZontar4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I just found the Single Window option for the display space, which is a hell of a lot more convenient. Otherwise, I'm fairly used to the GIMP control layout and I'm used to switching back and forth between different applications for photo editing, DTP, and drawing. I've gone several times between PageMaker, Quark, and InDesign over the years. Once you know how these programmes function generally, it's fairly easy to suss out the logic behind the control panels and which menus the functions are under. So I really don't need to make GIMP look like Photoshop but the tips here do help in learning how to arrange the work window in a nice convenient configuration.

Point of view... Perso, I stick with the GIMP default UI, it's 4 years I use it on a daily basis at work, and just thinking it will look like PS made me sick, yep I use the dark theme, BUT *with the original icons* (not the grayed ones, but the colored icons) ;) But I do understand that *people coming from PS to GIMP* will help them a LOT to learn GIMP as they will see a UI that they are comfortable with if it looks like PS, so at the end of the day it's very cool that GIMP can please a wide range of people by being customizable to the point you're are showing on the video (my GIMP is quite customized to MY own way, though). Nice video in all case, where I still learn something, great job and big thumb up!

I was trying to put together some of her pictures and some of those pictures that were hanging in her room on a frame were damaged by uneven light exposure. As a result, parts of the picture that were covered by other pictures over said areas are darker than the areas exposed to light causing area edges to be darker than the exposed are. Can I show you an example of one and see if maybe you can show me how to quickly fix this? I'm afraid I don't have too much time left. Thank you humbly in advance!!!

Can you double click on the right of the layers to open the blending sliders in GIMP just like Photoshop. These are most essential options. Everything else is fine. Or if similar options are available elsewhere please let us know. Otherwise GIMP seems to be an excellent software. I want to switch from expansive Photoshop to GIMP. Please help.
@DaviesMediaDesign5 жыл бұрын
I believe what you are referring to are adjustment layers. No, GIMP cannot do that yet. But should be able to in GIMP 3.2, which will probably be released in early 2021.
@candidonthestreetanupamgos52835 жыл бұрын
@@DaviesMediaDesign no I'm not referring to adjustment layers. You can double click on the right side of a Photoshop layer and you will see a menue will open where there are two sliders. With these sliders you can restrict the effect of that layer to a particular tonality. Just like luminosity masks but in a much more easier and user friendly manner. Just double click on any Photoshop layer (after the image and mask thumbnails on the empty space of the layer) and check out. The same effect is available in darktable by the name of parametric masks where you have similar sliders with more options even than Photoshop.
@katsumiisseiph89064 жыл бұрын
@@candidonthestreetanupamgos5283 Sadly no. The blend-if sliders and adjustment layers are the most important features that the GIMP is missing for non-destructive workflow and image adjustment.
