In this video we're experimenting with Negative X. a composition that will burst into flames on contact with water. Curious how to make a fire turn green? Using Negative X can create an awesome fire. TKOR show you EVERYTHING you need to know how to make a green fire.
Making a green flame fire is well worth it! This colorful fire project is as super easy as it looks, but ONLY if you avoid the mistakes and follow the instructions we highlight in the video. This is perfect for those wanting to know how to make a greek fire, how to make green flame, Negative X experiments, fire starters, how to make Negative X, how to make fire in water, chemical fire basics, green flames experiment and many more!
If you want to try something new and creative or just a simple weekend project such as: creating a green flame, fire experiment, fire science, fire hacks, chemical reactions, or STEM projects...watch the video to learn more.

@DragonKnight1625902 Yeah, he's just going to ignite that by his phone nonchalantly. He's not lying, that stuff is extremely sensitive to moisture. By the look of those clouds, the humidity is enough to possibly set it off, and a raindrop would be just enough as well. Don't be so critical, chemistry is like that.

For anyone wondering; here's the chemical reaction happening when water is introduced to the Negative X: 1. Cl- (from NH4CL) acts as a catalyst on the decomposition of NH4NO3: Cl- NH4NO3-----------------> N2O(g) + 2 (H2O)(aq) 2. Water in the reaction causes the decomposition of more NH4NO3, which is an autocatalytic effect. 3. The reaction melts the NH4NO3 and allows the oxidation of the zinc. The overall reaction is: Zn (s) + NH4NO3 (s)------> N2 (g) + ZnO (s) + 2 (H2O) (g)

I did some researching and found out why it was called negative x here’s the statement: “We used to call it "Negative-X" because of an X,Y,Z diagram we made of the 3 chemicals used in the mixture. We recorded the performance of the different chemical combinations in the formula and logged the values on our chart, It started working when one of the chemical values was negative on the 'X' scale - hence 'Negative X'. No doubt it's known by other names by now. It's a great attention grabbing classroom chemical demonstration.”

The name itself comes from a XYZ diagram made of the 3 chemicals used in the mixture. The performance of the values of different chemical combinations in the formula were recorded and logged in the chart, and it started working when one of the chemical values was negative on the 'X' scale - hence "Negative X"

I guess its called negative because every fire starts with a heat spark and in this case it starts with a water drop and as we know water is used to put off the fire hence i guess the name is negative necause of innitialization due to water instead of fire/heat spark

Ammonium chloride, also known as salmiak, popular among all of Scandinavia and finland, usually not straight off ammonium chloride, it is mixed up with sugar and either added as taste in sweets or the sweets are given a pepper and liqourice flavor and then rolled in it creating a coating of dust. Americans react funny to the taste because nothing like it is sold over there, so did you licking it in its "undiluted form" without the sugar :D Had a blast bringing over a bunch of danish candy to America and having family members try to taste it.
