Hey guys! In this episode of our Scimitar 1010 power catamaran revamp, we are getting to the pointy end of the work. Last few jobs before she goes in the drink again. It's not without a few hiccups though.

General rule of thumb is when you increase the pitch you loose 250 rpm per inch , so you going up 2 means you lost 500 rpm ! Same applies to going down from 19 -2 increases rpm 500 or the motors max rpm's ! If you at 19 were at 3250 rpm's and the motors max is 3400 going to a 17 won't help but a 18 will ! Test your props at WOT to get the best performance !

Hi guys, I’ve noticed cleaning products seem to be an issue lol. I’m not affiliated but call Advanced specialised equipment they are 5 minutes away from you in Brisbane. Get the product called pro neutral. It is marine safe and will clean everything and hurt nothing. I use it to clean natural stone tiles and also leather. But I’ve used it my boat as well. It’s $40 for 5 ltrs and it will last you for months

I know you didn’t like the inside seat and I understand that…. Consider adding a back rail with a lower back pad ….. something to lean against if it’s rough and you steer from inside. I added one on my boat after removing the seat and it made stability very easy and it’s something to hold on to if it’s rough

Hey mate, Yeah we have decided to just use it now for this year and see how it all feels. We have an idea of a cupboard type seat which could be used for pantry space with a cushion on top. But we see how we go after a little use

Wow, what a sh!tload of work you guys committed yourselves to, but how good does she look and cruise now. I had the old twin flouros in my camper. Ripped the guts out, used the original body, lenses and switches, and found some LED strip cob lights 1.5 x 12 x .2 cm on ebay, glued them in using clear silastic & wired them up. Wow they're white and bright and use bugger all power now, but look like the original light fittings. Cost about $5 each to do.

I know mate! We are quickly realising that! Haha all good though! Great idea for the lights. I have ended up finding some LEDs that fit over the hole snug which I'll show in a future vid. But yeah that would've worked for sure. Cheers Mick 🤙🏼

Funny you ask… no it hasn’t got AC and we weren’t worried about it. But, we are going to install an AC soon… Although, I’m going to fit a house split system AC rather than a marine unit.

Hey mate, good question, a few reasons, firstly it was pretty second hand, lived many years up and I dare say not used so it’s condition was average. Plus way too small for us. The True kit we have now isn’t our ultimate choice but is a great size vs weight until we decide what we want or will benefit from. Cheers Mick

Did you go for more horsepower when repowering? What size motors did you get?

Actually went a little less. To be honest they are basically the same engine just a few changes. The old ones were 125hp mechanical Yanmars and we fitted 110hp Common Rail Yanmars. apart from the obvious they have a different power/torque curve so the 125s revved out at 3800rpm where the 110s rev out at 3200. Fuel we aren't sure about but speed we got 18kts WOT from the old engines with a brand new clean bum, we get a smidge over 20 with the new ones..

room and weight were big factors for me with this... they are around half the weight of the next size up Yanmars and as the engine room is very small and compact, room is a premium in my opinion. That said, there are some getting around with 220hp a side... but the speed difference is only slight.

Going common rail i would be having a great fuel polishing system, filtration! I meet the previous owners at tipplers and had sundowners with them, lovely couple

@@bencampbell2407 yeah mate that why I had the tanks properly cleaned, new fuel lines & added a 3rd filter to the system. Hopefully that should do. Yeah they are a nice couple!
