There is also a "clean" version of VIXX's "Voodoo Doll." The original version was rated 17+ which meant they couldn't show it on TV so they had to edit the footage to take out all the gruesome and violent images. When they shot this MV their youngest member wasn't even old enough to watch the video, so he couldn't even see the final footage until he was old enough. So if you like the song and want to watch the MV again without all the blood, you can watch the clean version. However, they did have to cut some of the choreography scenes where they showed the members getting stabbed. So if you want to see just the choreography, you should watch their dance practice instead. You really should consider checking out VIXX's dance practice videos.

So basically the guys are being controlled by the girl, as one fell in love with the wrong person and it cost all of them, the girl has all of them contained and her own personal 'dolls' which she controls with all the gorey stuff you've seen but what everyone does to the voodoo doll, it also happens to them, so her own real life voodoo dolls in a sense, kind of like being in the wrong relationship with a person who manipulates the other, like a doll. They are trying to find a way to break free of the control she has over them all and in the end, Hongbin is recaptured and he's kept her prisoner forever. Voodoo Doll, Chained Up and Error are my favourite VIXX songs and MV's. You should really check out Error, its different to this but sooo good, i cried when I first saw it. In the prechorus the synth is doing a crescendo, and slowly as the chorus gets closer, more sounds and layers are added to the instrumental (for example the small quick ascending notes in the background) in addition to this, at the very end the vocals are crescendoing as well and it sound as there is some kind of layering of the vocals as well

SO the story behind the song itself is that of the destructive selfish love. The guy loves the girl so much he is willing to be anything and do anything for the girl. The girl doesn't love him BUT is going to use the guy for her ambitions/selfishness. He literally says as part of the lyrics 'i'm here for you to walk on/i'll do anything for your smile' and while he questions himself over it 'should i stay should i go?' he is still there. As for the vocals you pointed out three voices - N's during the pre-chorus, Ken's high notes than Leo's high notes. They are the two main vocalists and the lead vocalist. Ravi has his rap while Hongbin and Hyuk are still just background. They get bigger roles in later pieces but at the time of this song they are still uncertain with their vocals.

@deacs Voodoo Doll was the song and era that named them the “concept kings” due to them having such commitment to the video and content they decide for a video. This video is a good first example, another example is in their “Chained Up” album it literally comes with a slave contract or handling instructions (depending on the version you get). But on the subject of the meaning of the video, this song is about a man who loves a girl so much he’s willing to give everything up for her. One example is “if I can’t have you, then I’ll just live for you it doesn’t matter how much, if it’s you I’m ready to get hurt, look carefully at what I’m about to do, if it’s you, I don’t care about saving my body”, “my body has become a sacrifice for you, I will sacrifice myself for your happiness”, or “Seeing you smile just once is enough for me, I will do everything that you want for you, even if my remaining life decreases”. He pledges in the line of “tick tock tick tock, may it be fulfilled” after the girl has said to bring someone to her, will make the one who hurt her cry, and give up all his happiness so she is happy. momorobertson88 glad you liked it and I hope it becomes enlightening to at least some people! People at times don’t really understand what depth their videos and lyrics mean! So many new fans don’t really care, they’re just there for the music, the looks, and visuals. I like that there’s fans but most of them don’t become actual fans as part of the fan base by looking further in with legit interest with intention of being an actual part of the fandom. Since I got into kpop I look for things in every lyric and video, even old ones I went back and checked out. Hell, I went back to watch SHINee’s Lucifer and was paying such close attention I noticed the back of Key’s head, toward the shaved hairline, was red (we better never have that hair style on him again when he gets back or I swear, people going to be getting one pissed off phone call asking why they’re torturing the poor man like that). I analyzed Taemin’s Want video and picked it apart. You know you’re a real fan in the fandom when a video has a ton of symbolism in it and you’re looking for it all and when you have a damn multiple subject notebook and each section is for a group or a specific video or all the teasers from photos to video teasers then the video when it’s released...(I’m way too far down in the analyzing black hole they call kpop theories).

Time to watch the Clean Version, which is mostly just the choreography. Also, watch their stage version, it’s epic and this song was their first music show win! So it holds a very special place in the hearts of us Starlights and Vixx. Also, watch the dance practice so you can play the “find the baton” game (the stick they were stabbing each other with, it passes so stealthily between members, it’s like it teleports). This is hands down my favorite Vixx song, but there’s also Eternity and Error, which will make you cry. I am in love with VIXX, and the "Voodoo Doll" clean version is probably my favorite of their MVs. T^T It's basically a choreography/performance video, which is usually my favorite type of MV. Plus, it makes a good accompaniment for the lyrics/meaning of the song, which is beautiful and emotional (in my opinion), not creepy. And musically, this song is PHENOMENAL and mind-blowing. I once put the clean-version MV on repeat for hours. 8D And Leo has always been my favorite member, but in this, it's DEFINITELY Hongbin. X_X He freaking killlls me with his charisma and acting ability. *^* And that look... x___x

As much as this video creeped me out the song is amazing. VIXX are excellent concept artists and mad talented vocalists. Error and Eternity are also great songs.

I love this MV and song so much! There is a performance version aka clean version for you :) The lyrics are btw really good! This is not 100% correctly I think, but: It is about a boy who is in love with a girl that often has new boyfriends. Every time she break up and is heart broken she comes to him and "use" him to make herself feel better and the boy "sacrifice" himself for her because he love her. "If I can't have you, I will just live for you" Oh and one member was too young back than. He wasn't allowed to watch the MV he filmed xD

I personally love this music video with all those stuff, but if you want to watch it again without disturbing stuff, there is clear version ^^ If you will watch again look at the story, in the end they tried to escape but she caught one of them, that's why you saw the guy at the end flying away. (His name is Hongbin, and about his eyes, yes, he had contacts) Also, the guy that did high note is Leo, and the guy that did pre-chorus and got stabbed is Ken. For me this whole album is the best that Vixx did till now and I seriously recommend you to listen to it. Just sit without the camera etc and listen to it. Then, if you want you can look for videos from their concerts to see the choreography, it's great as well!

The sound that is happening you were wondering about is (I think) a riser. They slowly increase the note to tell the listener a new part is coming. If you want to know more about sounds in K-Pop you should definitely check out RAHIM. He analyses songs because he’s a music producer. There are subtitles for almost every Kpop related video :)
