My thoughts exactly. Love me a good, clean open-ice hit. Fights don’t really do it for me unless it’s a true no defense slugfest, which doesn’t really happen much anymore. Fighting can maybe give your team a small boost but I really don’t think it helps you win.

I agree, with less open ice hits in general it seems as though players have forgot how to take a hit safely. I see a lot of players turning their backs to hits and having their head down they’re head down in the open, which are putting themselves in dangerous situations. Maybe it’d change with more hits and coaching players to take/absorb hits correctly

@@emorsey0188 and on top of that every time there is open ice contact everybody just throws down the gloves and fights. I get needing to set a tone with a fight, or if they'd genuinely injured your guy. But just for throwing a check?

You're right about that more hits but less dirty hits . Open ice hits give you a better chance to gage your opponents path and hit accordingly to ensure you don't blast hit in the head . You always see the most awkward hits by the boards and that's where the needless scraps start . What I mean by needless is that the intention was never to injure by the hitter just an awkward angle but of course you're gonna stand by your teammates . Long story short more open ice hits as you said but less awkward ones and you'll have the perfect combination of more violence but warranted violence as opposed to unnecessary violence .

My VaporFresh team of the week is the Meth Cats. The Saturday game I enjoyed was Stars/Oilers. Great back and forth hockey. The kid who took the OT penalty sealed their fate. You can’t give the Oilers an OT PP.

Thank you. Thank you for giving my flyers a shout out. I feel like nhl and sportsnet and just about every other yt posters have been snubbing them. They're having an incredible bounce back season and are underrated. Just because they don't have big elite stars but tk and tippet are well on their way there. Coots is pretty up there too. But they are on a rebuild and to be in a playoff spot pretty much the whole season, deserves more attention. I think torts should be coach of the year for turning them around. We need a decent net minder and will be hoisting the cup within the next 3yrs.

Preface; I say this as an Arizona fan... This team needs to just move already. Every season if it isn't one thing, its something else. Be it, ownership issues, arena issues, poor attendance, bad performance, lack of league support... The list doesn't end. At this point we are just circling the drain here. The NHL needs to realize it just ain't happening in Arizona. The current arena they're playing in only seats 4500 people... Like cmon.

Hockey can be violent without that involving cheap shots. Reaves of all people should appreciate a fight over a cheap shot. Reilly should have fought Grieg, rather than take a high cheap shot on him. And we all know if the rolls were reversed, Reaves would call out the cheap shot.
