Fun fact: the Italian term _strega_ (meaning witch) comes from the Late Latin _striga_ - that same Latin word led to the Polish _strzyga_ and Romanian _strigoi_ which are bloodsucking undead that later on inspired the tale of the vampires. Also fittingly, _striga_ in Romanian also means “to scream“, and has the same etymological provenance.

Been wondering where & how you were going to take the STREGA. What type of Trip/s will you be taking us on...? It was WONDROUSLY ECLECTIC !!! You create the type of video which one must listen to and watch several times in order to take it all IN because there is s0 much creativity there. Each Soundscape is brilliantly patched as well as played. Love your videos! I learn a lot from them...and from you when you explain what you're doing💡. I turned Modular around 14 months ago🙉🎛and LOVE IT~ It is frustrating at times but I've got a few books + your videos and all the others which helps. As well as asking questions on line or calling a company about a certain Module. Just received my STREGA and I can't keep my hands off of it! Very unique instrument. I'm fascinated by the gold touch points/triggers, bridges, whatever Make Noise & Cortini call them on the STREGA. I use them A LOT. You can create several Drum Beats by touching certain "bridges" together while adding another. So many sounds and possibilities to create ! If possible, can you make more videos with the STREGA ? That would be the Bee's Knees~ Ciáo.💥🎵🔥🐙

20:36 I love the irony of plopping the Strega right on top of Maths... since you can't actually mount it within the case! I'd love it if MakeNoise would release a power adapter solution that would actually make this form factor optionally useable in the eurorack world.
@KarateSnoopy3 жыл бұрын
You can rack mount 0-coast/Strega/0-ctrl. You just need a blank to cover the power adapter. I rack mounted the 0-coast in my case www.mentataudio.com/gear-studio-talk/how-to-rack-mount-a-make-noise-0-coast-in-a-eurorack-case/
@chrisfjonesutube3 жыл бұрын
@@KarateSnoopy True! It is technically doable (great article on that btw). It's unfortunate that MakeNoise didn't go the extra couple steps to 1. align the holes for threaded strips, 2. provide a power solution that doesn't require hacks or soldering. The 60hp Moog semi-modular format is so much more useable... I love being able to easily mount my DFAM alongside my Maths instead of on top of it :D

Excellent demo as always and you unlock so much of it's potential. Soundwise, I feel Strega could be too 'exotic' for most people and even your video did not convince me otherwise. I don't think Strega sounds pleasant in any mode or input (it has MN on the panel, so it makes both sense and noise) but I can't wait to prove myself wrong. Regardless, you're the best. How is there no voltage droop on the patch c. 17:00 when you mult the pitch cv?
@MrSharps023 жыл бұрын
could be that the respective 1/v oct inputs are only gently sipping on their voltages and not guzzling the whole thing like an analog oscillator would, or some synths are smart enough to tell when theres more current being drawn from an output and so buffer the signal appropriately. i can mult pitches from my various digital sequencers all i want and none of them have any issues with pitch drop
