Never thought about using the blend tool that way. Nice. Always been a draw, drag/copy than equal it up using the align/distribute dialog.

This was amazing. I would have thought Calendars and Agendas would be more difficult in Illustrator. Thank you for the inspiration!!

Thank you for the tutorial, there is always something to learn from you even for an Ai veteran here. I notice a lot of tools on your tool panel that I haven’t seen before (I guess are add on ones), Have you cover those on past videos? If not, consider explaining some of the most useful to you. You are such a great teacher.

Thank you, Erwin. Those tools are the Astute Graphics plugins, which add many features and functionality to Illustrator. Here's one past video on Vector First Aid: kzbin.info/www/bejne/havdeq1-i5WmZ5o I'll take your suggestion and share more in the future. Thanks!

Thank you! I don't but I love that idea, I've added it to my list.

Thank you for creating such detailed videos--I have learned so much from watching your tutorials! I am looking to create my own planner stickers that I can print on my Cameo machine. I am a total AI newbie here, so it's slow going as I am working to create the templates for each of the sticker pages I need for my basic planner. I am making basic shapes such as rectangles and circles, filling with text, colors or patterns, adding cut lines for my Cameo (set just inside the shapes to allow for a bleed), and adding clipping masks to bring in fun patterns or backgrounds. Where I am getting stuck is my attempts to create the clipping masks on the stickers so that I can swap backgrounds or patterns in and out each month. I had hoped that it would be a few simple clicks like in the case of going to Select --> Same --> Fill Color to swap out colors across the page all at once, but that doesn't appear to be the case with the patterns I used on the boxes I created clipping masks with. Would you consider a tutorial on the topic for those of us working to create our own planner stickers in AI that we can print at home? I hope my explanation is clear enough. Again, a newbie here so forgive my lack of AI-speak 😆. Thank you again for your excellent work!

Thank you! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed my tutorials! Maybe you could look into using symbols or graphic styles because they make it possible to update across your art. We work with them in my courses membership, but hopefully I can make a tutorial for KZbin at some point. Also Astute Graphics has a FindReplace art panel that can do this w any art.

Will the blend tool work in illustrator cs5 or does it just work in newer version.
@LauraCoyle2 жыл бұрын
The blend tool has been around for a long time, I'm pretty sure it is in CS5 too.

Great tutorial. Would you use illustrator for a month on 2 pages? I was thinking Indesign, but my illustrator skills are better. I think aligning the numbers for a month would be difficult in illustrator.

Thanks! If you mean like a regular grid calendar, yes, you can. I just used columns in this tutorial, but you can use area type with columns and rows to space the numbers. And create the grid part separately as I did here.
