The project today I will make a spy camera from the old webcam and wifi module. Use 550mAh battery and 3.7V boost circuit to 5V. It worked perfectly, despite the low video quality. Laptop webcam only has 480X360. Video transmission distance ~ 50m.

Very cool, this tiny module is for cameras only, right? Would be nice if there is something like that to make any usb-device wlan compatible. Can call it spycam, can call it security system, anyways you can reuse old things and make something usefull from it, things that you would pay a lot of money for if you buy a ready build system, just get some of this modules, some old cams, an old laptop, set it all up and you have a propper security-camera system for your home, shop, whatever. Also nice that your camera module has even a footprint for an usb-socket, seems to be a very universal camera.

I need to set up a kind of surveillance/streaming system for a project at my school. I would very much like to do it with something like ESP32-EYE or ESP32-CAM. Mt7601 only works with 3.3V and you use 5v. You mention that in this module there is an AMS1117 ic, where is it located?

In my channel also i upload old laptop webcam diy to usb cam.. the webcam is 3.3volts u got it right... But i use it without stepdown diodes just as 5volt usb... Thankfully it work.. 😁

I will make the same thing, i know if the wireless link is bad is because the antenna... i have a similar issue with my rc 2.4 ghz radiocontroller and the culprit was a broken antenna ... just replace it with a wire then trim it to the correct frequency.

@Henry Edeh Well, all USB cameras that have a USB cable, the webcams in laptops are mostly USB, just need to find the correct pinout, you always can google any codes that you find on the camera modules, the pcb's from laptops, smartphones, digital cameras etc., maybe you are lucky and someone else had it already and published the pinout, I never did anything with cameras, but that is how I search for display pinouts, search on google for something like "AB1234CD56-E7 lcd pinout".
