Great tutorial and very informative. I quite like using nylon coated beading wire to make my bracelets and necklaces for increased durability.

I have made bracelets in this way but I tend to thread through, not only the crimp, but also through a few of the beads. I find it adds to the security & any cord/thread/wire can be further hidden inside the beads. Saying that, I am much more into mixed media jewellery (for want of a better term). The beads that you have used are lovely colourways & lend themselves to using silver or rose gold findings too. Tyfs.😊

Nicely done! Just would suggest throwing a little piece of tape around one small bit of one of the ends to keep beads from sliding off, yes?

Can I ask what stone(s) the beads are? Also is there a reason you use nylon wire rather than, say, multi strand metal wire? And what about wire guards?
@JewellersAcademy
@JewellersAcademy 2 жыл бұрын
The beads I use in the video are moonstone, sunstone, and labradorite. It's up to you as to whether you use nylon or multi strand metal wire - the metal wire can be stronger and better for heavier beads. Again, you can use wire guards to help protect the thread you're using - they will give your piece more longevity but it will impact the design slightly. It's your preference really. Hope that helps! x

What kind of chain do you recommend? For silver jewelry…silver plated chain? Stainless steel?
@JewellersAcademy
@JewellersAcademy 3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on your preference to be honest. Sterling Silver is probably more appropriate with semi precious beads and will have more longevity but will be more expensive/push your price point up. Silver plated is obviously more affordable but will tarnish and reveal the base metal eventually - causing green skin etc. I'm not used to working with stainless steel, but I know some jewellers are using this as a hypoallergenic option. Hope that helps! x

Thanks for the tutorial. I'll definately try this. How long roughly was the length of chain you used?

What size are the holes on the chain ? I can't wait to make these but I purchased a chain and the holes were far too small 😫
@JewellersAcademy
@JewellersAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
I can't remember the exact details of the chain I used in the tutorial, but it is a very large, trace chain (so light weight). I'd say you're looking for something at least 3mm in width x
