If you can, I would like to see the process of creating the texture on the hammer. I was thinking about buying some texture hammers, but I would prefer to learn how to make me own.

Hi Beth, I used a cutting disc held in a screw mandrel on my flex shaft to cut into the steel. Then I refined the lines with a file. My best suggestions are work safely and buy cheap hammers. I'm looking for a good source for the hammers now. If we get a chance to show how to use the cutting tools in the near future, we'll make that video. Thanks for your support! : )

Hi I am writing an epq on texturing hammers and I would like to get your opinion on custom made texturing hammers to mass-produced hammer for example cost benefits and uniqueness of the texture it creates

Hi Jessica! Mass produced texturing hammers are fine for most jewelry makers. Unless textures made using hammers are an important part of their creative expression, most jewelry makers don’t see the need to refine hammers to create new textures. For those who choose to pursue investigating textures, tweaking hammers can be an inexpensive option. Used hammers can easily be altered with grinding tools. But safety considerations should be closely followed. I hope that this helps. 😀
