They will make a few more devices that are ALMOST what you want in the hopes that you'll give up, buy those, and then buy the mystical RG406p that they'll release two months after you get your wallet out.

Wish they had done it in the shell of the upcoming 40xxH. Although this looks interesting to me mostly for the use case of 3DS.

They probably didn't want to get stuck with too many unsold metal shells with how much they added to the cost of the rg405m, so instead they opted for a more distinct change and did the rg405v instead. Realistically, we most likely get a 406p at some point, but it will be a few months as they like to spread out the higher end models with 2-3 XX releases.

I ordered mine within the first minute of it going on sale. It took them almost 2 weeks to actually ship it. Finally got it a few days ago. Luckily the famicom one that I got has zero light bleed. I would have loved to have gotten it sooner but I'm glad that they waited and sent me a good one .

Anbernic sent me a 2nd screen and it didn't have a thermal pad on its back. Nor did it have any adhesive around the displays edge so it wouldn't even stay seated in the front enclosure. Not to mention that once I opened it up I saw that they applied the thermal paste to the various chips SO poorly. It's really just a mess. I don't think Anbernic is going to fully resolve this.

I want you to film yourself breaking this! I already have a Cube. Mine has a little light bleed at the top, nothing like the review unit. I love the design. I'd recommend the RGB30 over this for anyone who doesn't have one and wants a 1:1 screen. I wish this could dual boot to linux.

I got my day 1 purchase cube yesterday after waiting 3 weeks buying from eBay. Mine didn't have light bleed as bad as your pink one. There's a little bleed on the top but not enough for me to return it.

Hey I bought from ebay too for the big discount, also got it yesterday. We probably were in the same shipment. And yeah same, minimal light bleed on top, not enough of a problem when I weigh it against what I have to go through (either return it and get a refund then buy another one and wait again, or Anbernic sends me a screen and I have to fix it myself).

I’ve used the ‘crop’ in PS2 graphics settings to remove a little from the left and right and it gives an even larger display. Works really well in Outrun2006

I saw somewhere that Duckstation with widescreen patches enabled and stretched to fullscreen would make a nice output for that 1:1 screen. I don't have such a device and I'd love to know if GC or PS2 would be able to work like this.

I saw it on Reddit a few days ago that Dolphin MMJR (GameCube) was recently updated to allow for the same thing.

Can we confirm which systems should be 1:1 and which should be 4:3? GB, GBC should be 1:1 and NES, Genesis, SNES should be 8:7? GBA 3:2. Gamecube, Wii, and PS2 force 4:3?

I'm still watching your review, but wanted to chime in that there is actually absolutely nothing wrong with the sticks. The issue is entirely with the software in Anbernic's version of Android causing the sticks to snap to cardinals. You can (and I did) replace the sticks with Gulikit's hall effect sticks for Nintendo Switch, and they will react exactly the same. So anyway, yeah, we need to wait a few months for GammaOS to support the RG Cube so that we can solve this, since Anbernic apparently can't be bothered to give us at least a toggle to correct the sticks.

100% correct, we're using these K silvers in other handhelds and they are excellent (like in the ZPG A1 Unicorn). I wish they could fix their software, it is very frustrating to deal with this issue over and over as they release the same Android rom on each successive device.

"I wouldn't want to ... give it to someone with that light bleed." I wouldn't complain. The purple one's screen looks A-OK enough to me! Nah, I'm not begging. Well, not too much, anyways. On a serious note; I'd love to see a teardown and repair video. I enjoy that sort of content and I have no doubt that one about fixing the Cube would be up to Zu's usual high standards of infotainment. When I was a kid I used to read my Dad's Chilton Auto Repair manuals for fun. That actually not a lie, btw. When I was 10 I knew how to rebuild a carburetor, but, didn't know how to make friends. I believe that's what they now call being a Sigma, and apparently it's a good thing. See, I was a trendsetter! Whoo hoo! "1995 Honda Civic ... Undercarriage glow lights". The most reliable part of any tuner Honda Civic is the glow lights. Do you know what's the most reliable part of any showroom stock Volkswagen? The Check Engine light. "What did we learn?" Zu likes big butt grips and he cannot lie?

I'm so disappointed in anbernic for making the rg40xx h. That could've been the rg406p with 8gb of ram, but instead we got a 35xx h with a 4 inch screen. :/ I like the cube though. Not too bad. Psp isn't an issue for me. I have no issues stretching out the screen. It doesn't bother me too much though it would probably look better on the future 406m or p that anbernic will eventually make further down the line.
