An underrated guitarist imo. One of the few guitarists that has such a distinct style to his riff writing, phrasing and signsture tone. i can hear one of Nicks riffs and immediately know whos playing. A pretty rare thing these days.

Nick is as important to me as Tosin, Misha and Marc. Don't get me wrong the entire band is fantastic and definitely what I'm stuck on at the moment but there's one consistent thing I follow through the entirety of their work. His playing. Uncharted, Either and Doomswitch are some of the most unique and beautiful pieces of music I've heard.

RE: Sweat. The salt in your sweat is enough to remove the coatings on everything, thus oxidising the metal. Salt + water + metal = rust. The bodyheat would also expand the winding on the strings, though not noticibly unless after a long time

Saw MTS at Full Tilt festival in March and the mixing was dreadful. My first time seeing them and I was really disappointed that the sound was so poor (was a big issue across the whole festival) Saw them on the Doomswitch tour and they fucking slapped HARD. So glad I saw them in all their glory and really keen to see what they release in the future The whole band seem like amazing people, and all incredibly humble

@@DrBrovahkiin one of these days I need to try out a Floyd just to see if the tuning stability is THAT much better than a well set up hard tail. I’d probably rather just check out an evertune and go nuclear on it lol. But maybe I should try out a Floyd to see how much better the stability is

I tried Ab on a 25.5...with a set of baritone slinkies... never again ... spent the next 2 years playing longer and longer scales 27/27.8 because honestly Id rather not play anything over 70 ;') I started to feel like I got really heavy handled on the 25.5 with such thick strings.
@infernapeDLS
@infernapeDLS Жыл бұрын
I do F# on a 25.5 7 string. I actually feel that it is super easy to play. I use 70 for the low F# and the rest is 11-54. I feel that longer scales are way harder to play
@offshot1st
@offshot1st Жыл бұрын
@@infernapeDLS ah I was taking about a 6, rather than a 7. pickups were more for for Drop so sounded like ass lol Also 70 is pretty loose for drop F# But in terms of multiscale 7s For me i prefer l just how thinner strings feel to play, I find it alot less effort to run around all over the neck for a couple hours and my picking hand prefered it too for the semiquavers.
@infernapeDLS
@infernapeDLS Жыл бұрын
@@offshot1st Yeah 70 sounds loose right! but I dont know. I have two kiesels and they set up great. Also they sound crisp because I don't have thick strings. Sound wise, pickups are the most important thing. I got a bareknuckle painkiller in one and their high output passive in the other one.
@coopertimbs-poke3062
@coopertimbs-poke3062 Жыл бұрын
Can definitely relate with you there, I can't really stand using strings much thicker than 70 I'm running G#/Ab on a 25.5 and I only run a .64 and it plays like butter. It's a little on the looser side but that's by design as I kinda really enjoy having that bottom string go slightly sharp and then back down on the initial attack of the open string
@offshot1st
@offshot1st Жыл бұрын
@@coopertimbs-poke3062iinteresting... really? Thats one of the reasons I went thicker. Its a bastard when recording with other instruments like bass and synth. I underestimated how much G# is a huge jump from A gauge wise.. A i can play a 62/64... But anything less than 68 doesnt intonate correctly even on an ormsby for G#... I cant get the saddle far enough back for G#. My other reason I play thicker is for semiquavers... / gallops at 195bpm. I find a loose string really hard to play on at that tempo because is not as consistant in the rebound. Butttt honestly I will be doing the next EP in drop A as its much easier to set up on bass and guitar. Bass at this tunings even in a dingwall need custom wound strings... to account for the taper and nut Its so bizarre to me that the industry hasnt responded ro the genre shift to lower tunings like F# on a 7 oiver the last 10 year because so many modern metal bands do it. And the luthiers /techs hate it because technically ffom an engineering pov the guitars arent actually long enough 😂 Id love to see some ridiculous 8 string scales lengths appear for 7 strings. Or maybe I will just buy an 8 string 🤣

What’s your bassist playing when you’re drop E
@craigmchugh9978
@craigmchugh9978 Жыл бұрын
possibly drop E down an octave, like with a whammy drop tune pedal, or tune the bass to drop E, the same as the guitar, but dial back the bass settings on the guitar with an EQ pedal to let the bass take more of the low range.
