Oh, you mean the Dinky? I was really hoping for a slightly enlarged superstrat body shape with that classy Jackson USA neck profile. Instead we got a Dinky with some loud colours that can't legally carry the "Made in USA" tag because not enough of the guitar is sourced and worked in the US.
@watersnortmoment3734Ай бұрын
@pauln6803 It takes the bridge alone to disqualify it. The value of non USA made parts cannot exceed 5% according to California law, at $2000, it only takes $100 from the Floyd Rose 1000 to break that threshold. Basically anyone complaining about it is just a whiner and can be safely ignored because they don’t understand the MIA laws. If that little bit of text bothers you, knuckle down and pay $4000 for a USA select, it’s the only way to get around those laws and get your precious MIA tag.

Just to be clear, the Soloist body is also smaller like the Dinky. People like to argue about it, but it is a fact that can be easily confirmed by holding a soloist up next to a strat (or a soloist up with a dinky). Another proof of this is the fact that Jackson molded cases are Dinky/Soloist cases. Both fit into the same case snugly. They are interchangeable between the two models because the only thing that really differentiates them is neck through vs bolt on (soloist necks on average tend to be thicker and can be a couple mm wider in string spacing as well depending).
@Max-sn5kt8 ай бұрын
I can confirm your point, i've had both model, and i've put them on top of each other and they are identical . The reel difference is neck type( bolt on- neck thru)
@pauln68036 ай бұрын
String spacing should be the same as they both have an R3 nut if it has a Floyd. The necks have varied according to age, model and factory. It's funny how the hand interprets a neck and can mistake a minute difference in the carve for a different width and depth that actually measures the same. I have a Japanese Ibanez RG505 and an Indonesian Premium, both are specced as Wizard II necks, but I'd swear the Jap has a wider neck, even though I've taken measurements with digital calipers and the nut width and neck depth are within a couple of tenths of a millimetre. I've owned multiple Jackson/Charvel guitars and the only two that I'd say have necks that are identical in the hand are my 91 Soloist pro (Japan, Chushin Gakki factory) and USA SL2H.

I just picked up the JS 7 string Rhoads. I decided if it sucked I can change what suck. I’m extremely impressed on my first impressions. I’ve had it for 3 days now, so keep everything with a grain of salt. Mostly I’ve been impressed with the neck and fret work. So far no issues have crept up. Biggest surprise to me are the pickups and tuners. For them being cheap parts, the pickups sound massive, and the tuners don’t feel absolutely worthless. And the nut is cut properly so it’s been holding tuning no issues. It did not come with an appropriate string gauge but that’s the easier fix in the world. I kind of hate the headstock but seeing it in person it doesn’t look nearly as bad. I’ve grown to like how ugly it is. Can’t speak for the King, but so far, the Rhoads is killing it for me.

They really have gone insane. $1500+ USD for Chinese and Indo guitars is crazy and so are the people buying them. Not even a decade ago you could find MIJ Jackson for under a grand. I still own a few. Even the worst case scenario inflation calculation isn’t enough to justify these prices. They aren’t even particularly notable for their fit and finish at that price. Buddy has a newer Pro Plus that had all sorts of issues. Get a new Prestige or used E-II for that money. It’ll play better and hold its value much better.

It's called inflation
@solidus3179 ай бұрын
@@samwroblewski748 nope it’s called corporate greed. Ive worked in the financial industry for 15 years, currently in investments and securities cost basis. If you know what that is then you’d know that my understanding of inflation is integral to my own survival and greater than most because I see the hard numbers every day across all industries. The pro series has nearly doubled in price over the past few years and Chinese Jackson have gone from about $599 to this new $1500 price point with new branding since 2019 yet the worst case national(U.S) inflation value from 2019 to now is 25%. Weird that in that same time an Ibanez Genesis or Prestige are the same exact price since 2017/2018. (Hint. Below $1500 for MIJ) Try again or go ahead and be a sheep and buy this garbage.

@johnbrown85708 ай бұрын
What about that is a bad thing? If a guitar plays and sounds great then idc where they’re made. I’ve had a Gibson USA Les Paul that I absolutely hated. I’ve also had a Japanese fender Stratocaster that didn’t play nearly as good as the Mexican fender I have now. And my squier jazzmaster I had a couple years ago is probably my favorite guitar I’ve ever owned and if I didn’t have to make rent during Covid, I would still have it today. And that was made in china. idk why people are focused on where its made so much. half the time they dont know what theyre talking about.
@solidus3178 ай бұрын
@@johnbrown8570literally another person not reading but yet still a reply. I wrote what’s bad when I stated that there’s multiple personal examples of these guitars NOT having the qualities expected of a $1500 guitar. I’ve owned/have friends that owned and interacted with these things. I’m not saying a Chinese guitar can’t be decent(I have 2 EMG and Floyd 1000 equipped Charvel Desolations from the early 2010s that are made in China that are fantastic for the $500 they went for new but they are in no way equal to guitars that went for more money from that time like a Schecter Hellraiser series, which I own 3 as well. Now they’ve exceeded them in price) but I’m saying at the labor rates that we know that’s typical of these factories and the lack of detail that fender has had over the last few years across the board that $1500 is insane. You proved that point yourself when you stated a MIJ Fender was disappointing. You think on average(as in ignoring the rare well setup unicorn example) the cheaper to manufacture with lesser cost materials Chinese ones will be better? The fact that people use Gibson as a measuring stick of quality/justification says a lot about out the state of the guitar economy and validates further why I’m passionate about not accepting this from Fender. That’s how Gibson got away with being overpriced in the first place. People accepting low quality just to have that name on the headstock or using as that as a reason why they still overpaid for something else that was just a less bad. Both can still be overpriced. Either way, like I said in my other reply that looks like got deleted, get whatever you want. It’s your money. I’m just saying we are all voting with our wallet and we can’t complain that things are overpriced if we are lining up to overpay and accept inferior products for insane markups when there’s still better alternatives out there. I currently own over 40 guitars from various makes and countries of manufacture. From the cheap Charvels I mentioned all the way up to my Ibanez J Custom and USA PRS Custom 24 10 Top. I’m not saying cheaply made guitars don’t have a place. They do, just like expensive guitars do. I have a few and I own enough guitars and have owned many more over the years to say that I’m not completely talking smack for no reason. Over paying for them at all levels is just unwise.

Funny story. I have many guitars, some low end for experimenting, some VERY high end....because I am a snob. I bought a Jackson JS-22 Dinky 7 string, because I wanted to get a feel for playing 7 strings before investing into a REAL guitar. I was absolutely blown away. The build quality is insanely good, it is hefty, sturdy, stays in tune, and honestly sounds WAY better than I thought it would. The first thing I do on cheapo guitars is start upgrading from random high end parts I have to make a Frankenstein style guitar and chase the tone/result I am hoping for.....I wouldn't replace a single thing on that JS-22. Thing came perfect out of the box. The into action was crap, but took 20 minutes to fix. Do NOT sleep on the cheapo Jackson's, I guarantee if you get your hands on one, you will have trouble putting it down.

Jackson fanboy here. I like that they’re catching up with the market (spoiler alert: your average player DOESN’T need SS frets or luminlays but that’s what they want, so they need to deliver), but it took a frustratingly long time. I know the average modern player is into the offsets and super-strats, so I know that’s why the Dinky and Soloist gets the most love, but for me I believe in V supremacy and I want to see these updated specs brought to the pointy models. I also have a dealer exclusive Concept Series RR (before the Concept series was official launched) and it has the OFR on it. I was happy to see that stay on the official launch, but now I’ve become disappointed to see it removed from current Concept models. It’s still a very grey area for me (I lean happy, but still bummed at lack of love for the pointy’s). I’m waiting to see what else comes out, but no I don’t want the Mike Stringer model.

Regarding your claims pertaining to pricing. I absolutely agree. Some of Jackson's specs are strange, and their downgrading certain parts to those of lower quality, whilst not lowering the price to reflect that, is definitely dirty. Secondly, seeing an Epiphone Firebird for $1800, is absolute highway robbery. When I was a kid in the mid to late 2000s, an Epiphone was at BEST, $500. That was for a good Les Paul Standard. To think that Epiphones have tripled in price since then is absolutely insane. They're not worth that much, their atrocious build quality, and lack of innovation is evident that they're far too greedy.

For £2099, I would want a Floyd Rose Original, not a FR-1,000 on a Concept Series Jackson. My RR24-7 Camo has one. This is a kick in the nuts. And no Concept Series Warrior?! GRRRRRRRR!!!

I went to order a Custom Shop Rhoads. Even at $6,400, Jackson won't build me a black one with blue bevels? 🖕 you, Jackson! $6,400, and I can't even get it the color I want. Alexi said he left Jackson because when his guitars were stolen, Jackson told him it would take two-three years to get it to him. ESP told him six months!

My theory on Aussies is that ONE (not all) but ONE of the key things is this: Aussie drummers hit differently. It's like they have their own pocket. This goes from Punk and Alternative to everything else. All styles. There is a basis in *THUMP that influences every other aspect of music across genres.

dinky and soloist same size, Jackson is by far is my choice, could care less about ss frets , i actually kinda prefer whatever Jackson has always used. Thrilled you seem to kind of like Jackson now. Rock on buddy!

Objects not attached to the surface of the earth (water in a sink going down a drain) will create a vortex going the opposite direction. So in the Northern hemisphere, it moves clockwise. In the Southern hemisphere, it moves counter clockwise. On the equator, water goes straight down.

But stainless steel frets!
@solidus3178 ай бұрын
@@stephenkomorowski6359even 1099 is overpriced. People paying that price was what gave them the idea to charge $1500+.

Credit to Jackson the SL27 EX looks like Sean from Sleeps went to Charvel and said hey can I have my sig with a floyd for the studio? And Jackson said “Hold my Beer”

Hey what about Gojira Jackson signature models? The natural wood finished Rhoad's looks insane.

I swapped out a Floyd original for a Floyd 1000 on my ESP just to see if there really was a difference and it’s been a year, nothing really changed 🤷♀️

I love Jacksons and adding stainless steel frets and all with their Pro Plus line is great, but asking 1.5K for a made in China guitar insane. I know you can build awesome guitars everywhere, but QC in China has never treated me very well.
@EnigmaticAnamoly13 күн бұрын
Yea this is why I bought mine (DKA, metallic black) from Sweetwater and paid a little extra $ for their plek setup. Had it for about a month now and its still holding up great. I want a USA or USA custom shop some day but man even those you can find nightmare QC videos online. Everything seems hit or miss these days.
