Thank you for the great tutorial. I've tried hammering 20g wire ends to get that paddle look but I can never get them to look as pronounced as yours (more success on thicker gauges though). Do you have any additional tips you can give on thinner wires(in achieving the paddle look)?

I'm glad you enjoyed it! For me, the secret to getting paddles on thinner wires is to work slowly and really focus on carefully spreading the end. I'll use a planishing hammer to get the paddle started, and then sometimes switch to a small ball-peen hammer to strategically move the metal outward near the end of the paddle. There's not as much metal to move with thinner wire, so I find that striking multiple times lightly is more effective than fewer heavy strikes. I hope that helps!

Can this be done with dead soft wire?
@AnniePenningtonJewelry6 жыл бұрын
Emily Rachel Gilley Absolutely! You'll want to work-harden the ear wires, but the rest of the earrings should be fine with dead soft.
