You can never unite different groups by treating them differently. That will only ever breed resentment which will eventually lead to anger and worse. You want people to think they are all in the same boat and on the same team then you have to treat them like they are all in the same boat and on the same team. Identity politics can only bring division. That is its inherent purpose.

I watched a documentary that said the New Zealand treaty with the Maori was at the request of the Maouri because they had tribal wars. Some of the tribes were trading shrunken heads for muskets In Sydney at the time - which is another gruesome story Then bringing muskets back to New Zealand and wiping out their opposition tribes and so they approached the white man to say we want to come under your legal system to stop these inter-tribal wars and so they are the ones who asked to come under the white man’s laws to save their own bacon Because without that one tribe with muskets would dominate and wipeout the rest and under the white man’s law murder was illegal You don’t hear people talking much about that
