I came to this video to learn how to make this literal vent adapter for a inside AC unit. It was a garage sale find but they didn't have the equipment to hook up to the window. 300-400 dollar unit they thought was junk, sold for 45$ and all it needs is a 3in vent outside lol. Just got into 3D printing and I've been looking for software to make my own parts. I've been trying to wade through Blender, but it's giving me a serious headache, even with the tutorials I've seen online. TinkerCAD looks a little more intuitive. Probably not quite as feature rich as something like Blender, but I think I chose poorly when I decided to start there. But, it was free, so there's that. Enjoyed this video. I'll have to look through your channel to see if there are more TinkerCAD tutorials, and maybe I'll give it a go myself.

This is a great video. I have two changes to this exact item but don't know how to do it. How do I make the base into an arc so that I can attach it to the side of a bucket? How do I rotate or slant the tube portion of this so when I connect an inlet hose to the bucket, it creates a centrifuge to rotate the dust on the way in from the vacuum...(bucket dust collector attachment is what I'm trying to make). Any help you can provide would be great. Thank you.

This is one of the best videos, it shows how to do so many things in one video, I wasn't aware of the auto centering, I wasn't aware you could choose wall thickness, I would do a solid object and copy and paste and make the copy a lil smaller and turn it into a hole for a cylinder, but how do I get a true round object, seems all my round edges become flat the bigger the cylinder I make,

Great instructional video! A question regarding outer wall thickness: I designed in Tinkercad and printed, essentially, a funnel to replace the original poor flowing one on my aquarium gravel vacuum tube. It's sort of 3 pieces grouped together. I made the walls 2mm thick for strength and made them 2mm in the slicer. Yet the first one, when I dropped it, it came apart at the joins. I ended up putting 4mm rings at the joins to ensure that didn't happen again. Is 2mm about right? Is it common for such things to be weak at the joints? I used PETG - 235' nozzle, bed 70'
@HLModTech11 ай бұрын
Thank you. The 2mm in the slicer will not grow your model to achieve that thickness. What it does it take a part that is solid in your design and print it with 2mm walls. A great question. I think I ought to make a video about it. Thanks for the nudge. Adding the rings in those areas is pretty slick. It is like adding a fillet for strength. 👍 Thanks again for the reaching out.

@@HLModTech Haha, I suppose so. It does seem like you have put a ton of work in your channel, you've got videos to cover pretty much anything. For me this one video is what has made me dust off my printers again and now I'll start designing some much needed parts. I bought my first 3D printer (Anet A8) back in 2016, added an Ultimaker 6 months later and an SLA printer after that. They have all been collecting dust in a shed since I have been busy with other interests. But it's time to blow new life into them. Thanks again.

For 3D printing it is nice to have a flat base. We had just beveled all the corners... so the bottom would have had a slight curve. I prefer totally flat. That step cut the bottom flat. Then pressing the letter D dropped it to the workplane.

How do we add a threaded plastic pipe end. How is the threaded part done ?
@HLModTech Жыл бұрын
This is how I solve it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6fXeHitabmqjbc This is a female thread... If you needed male I would still search Thingiverse for the thread and work from there. There is a thread tool in Tinkercad, but I have had more success thix way.

Hi,, I have a question; what do I do to make an object scalable? What I mean is if I want to design something that I want to make in different scales , do I draw or design it full size or do I have to do separate drawings in each scale?
@HLModTech2 жыл бұрын
I would make the design for the first scale. Then make a copy of the project and simple shift stretch the copy to fit the 2nd scale. This video has a similar idea I believe. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2fOiaZ8rNajftU

Hi so just asking but for future references would it be at all possible to change the color of your mouse arrow to a different colored, preferably black or red, just so it’s a bit easier to see where your mouse arrow is, other than that it’s a very slow and very informative video 👍, sometimes some other tutorials tend to be too fast it makes it difficult to understand, or they simply end up ten steps ahead and you’re stuck trying to catch up.

@hl modteck how do you set the inner diameter of a cylinder when using circle array? I’ve tried using the size selector within the shape but the actual diameter is off when printed.

First, are you sure your printer is calibrated to print perfectly? None of mine are... so I use a bit of Kentucky windage when I am making a part. Secondly, make sure you avoid the handles while using parameters. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKvFZox_adqpd6c

How do you make a beveled edge on a rectangle that is 1/4" thick?
@HLModTech Жыл бұрын
I would make the rectangle 1/2 inch... bevel that and cut it in half with a hold block that is 1/4 thick. When grouped you will have a flat bottom and a total of 1/4" of material.

This was a great quick tinkercad tutorial! I have a question which is about as complex as the related model. I modeled a koi, complete with scales. Each scale shaped and angled slightly differently to curve along the body and fit perfectly, random yet symmetrical. It is easily a 200+ part model that frequently fails in processing when grouping. Is there any special order I should group things to ease this? Example being when grouping scales should I group 2, add 1 and group, repeating until all are grouped or select them all and do one big grouping of dozens of shapes for part of one side of the body? The large groupings are especially prone to failure but the smaller ones do as well. I've tried copying then pasting to a new blank design to group and then copy/pasting back. It's pretty much complete as I've managed to work through the failures although I did give up for a while... Am I skating the limits of tinkercading?
@HLModTech3 жыл бұрын
That is a fantastic project and question. Groups of Groups of Groups really kick the systems tail. I group sections, but try to leave all the sections separate. Another slick move is parts. I think I made a tutorial about it... I will do some looking quick.

@@jdizzforyou The video has posted. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYGahYiXl7yHp9k When you see the treads for the stairs, I am picturing you making a "set" of 6 scales that can be saved as a part and reused. I think that would make the fishy render faster.

Quick question how do you center a shape inside a shape, I'm trying to make a Xmas tree cookie cutter with a 2nd tress that will imprint a pattern on to the icing sugar, but I'm having trouble getting the star at the top to center as i only need the outline of the star not a solid block. So i placed down 2 stars and the tried to shrink the 2nd one that will then cut out the center but it's not working or I'm simply doing it wrong. Could you please make a video explaining/ showing how to do this or a link to a video on this if you've already made one.
