Thanks, You got me thinking did a search and found this How can I sharpen an electric shaver? Try toothpaste. Yep, it works: One recommended way of sharpening your electric shaver is by using toothpaste. Using toothpaste as your sharpening material is ideal because you probably have it inside your home already so there is no need for you to buy some of it, which could be inconvenient. Together with the toothpaste, you will also need water and baby oil for the sharpening process. The first thing you need to do is clear all the bristles with a small brush. Look for tiny hair strands that get stuck in your blades and have them removed. After removing all hair residues, apply the toothpaste to the blade area and razor screens. Make sure all areas are covered up with toothpaste then turn the shaver on. This will help you on scattering the toothpaste all over the area that needs to be sharpened. After that, remove the blades and rinse them with warm water making sure that all substance is washed away. Dry it for a few seconds and then drop a small amount of baby oil before putting your electric shaver back together. Another tip: Try using regular toothpaste instead of stuff like “extreme whitening” and the like, since those toothpastes have larger “gritty particles” and it won’t be as effective in cleaning/sharpening.

I have a 7 years-old Braun 340s-4 wet/dry foil rechargeable shaver, it has the original "cassette"(foil/cutter), and it holds the charge for 2 and half weeks; I shave every day (I may escape the weekend shave) but no fail during the week, I use a pre-shave lotion before shaving and get a fantastic smooth, close, clean and irritation-free shaves every time; the shaver still gives me a reasonable close shave despite its age and practically daily use since I bought it, but I think it's starting to show wear and tear as some times it may give me little nicks on the neck area and I may need to past the shaver few times on the same spot to get a clean cut. the trick has been to keep my shaver clean (I give it a quick clean after every shave) and a deep one once a month without fail then I put a drop of a light mineral oil machine in each cutter and central trimmer; it has paid off as it's in tip-top condition. Despite the Braun 340s-4 still works perfectly and I use it on daily basis, I decided to buy a new one; a previous model of the 340s-s; it's the Braun series 3 330 dry foil shaver, you can use it plugged in the mains or you can recharge it (1-hour full charge) to use it everywhere; I haven't used yet, but I will give it a try during the week to see if it performs as good as my old 340s-4 wet/dry shaver.

I quit using Braun and Remington as the foils and cutters wore out too quickly and at £22 to replace far too expensive. Now use Panasonic and found them much better quality. 👍

Yea unlike a razor the foil shaver or even just a regular trimmer like the one hairdressers and barbers uses don't actually use a blade to cut, they act like scissors which is also why they don't irritate like a razor. I have had the same beard trimmer for like 2 years and it's starting to fall apart and I started seeing trimmers with "replaceable" bits with a electronic indicator to when to change the cutters. We live in a world where companies try to make mind boggling profits with anything that could last you a life time. You use to be able to go to a tool shop and have you scissors corrected from wear so they would cut like brand new now people just trow anything away with out trying to fix them

@@peter4210 you're right mate, but if you keep your shaver/trimmer in good clean condition, it'll last you longer and will give you good quality shaves and save you money along the way; cleaning, lubricating, draining completely the battery every 6 months and fully charging it again will keep your shaver running for a very long time and you'll have no worries about getting replacement parts (heads, cutter and foils) for few years; I always do this to my shavers and in the 35 years I've been using electric shavers I've owned no more than 8 shavers (3 shavers I dropped them on the floor by accident and broke them) but about head replacements, I just did one on a Braun dry foil shaver that lasted me 9 and half years and one on a Remington rotary dry shaver that lasted me 6 years. that's the trick to keep your shavers no matter rotary or foil, running and shaving perfectly well.

@@ROCKGRINDER12 it's the trick with everything, just keep them in good shape and repair them. You can even realign scissors to get them cutting like they are brand new. The sad part is they make things to break and they make them hard to repair with out the proper tools

I realize this is an older video, you may not even have that shaver anymore, but I just received the replacement foil and cutter head for my single cutter BaByliss Pro shaver. It's a very nice chrome plated single cutter head shaver although it's not rechargeable so I use rechargeable AA batteries in it and have a charged pair ready to go in when the ones in use die. Works out good 👍. The BaByliss double foil/cutter shaver is rechargeable though if I remember right. The replacement cutter and foil for my shaver is model FXRF1 if you want to check them out, it may well be the model number of this particular shaver as well, I don't remember. I got the replacement on Ebay which was a listing that you could bid on and I was the only bidder so I got it for $11 plus tax and shipping(USD) which all came to $16.59. Anyway, I have an ultrasonic cleaner and I'm going to try this with the old cutter and foil and see how it turns out. I'll just keep them around for backup when the new ones get dull. It's odd, I had been searching for my older double foil rechargeable shaver(Panasonic ES-LT41 Wet/Dry) that disappeared a couple years ago (hence why I bought this BaByliss) and my wife just found it the other day in one of her makeup bags, I thought someone took it or something, I still need to find the charging cord for it but I'm going to try this with that shaver because it was going dull also, I remember searching for replacement foil and cutters for it way back when. Thanks for the video!

I went to Walmart and got a $25 jewelry cleaner and distilled water. I took 3 of my foil razors and cleaned them up manually with the brush and rinsed b4 placing the parts into the cleaner. I let the cleaner run about an hr and was really surprised to see how much debris was still on the parts. The jewelry cleaner came with a tube of concentrated cleaner that i added to the water which did shine the parts up to mint looking. Definitely $25 well spent. I also seen a sonic dentures cleaner for $10 online if cost is an issue.

This looks more like you 'cleaned' the shaver head. I cant see how this would 'sharpen' it.

Wouldn’t it be the same as turning on the shaver in a bowl of water? Wouldn’t it vibrate the hair lose?
