you took all the words out of my anxious brain. i love map making so much and have remade my map so many times, but i feel like i make it more stressful than it needs to be

@@oszuli i was the exact same way! (and still am sometimes lol) i definitely think my map needed to change to reflect the playfulness of my world but it also made me realize how much i overthought everything the first time around!

I definitely feel like I need to add a bit more magic and fantasy to my maps. They tend to feel a bit lifeless when I try to make them entirely logical

@Sting-me1hz I think it’s definitely worth trying out! It can be really hard to find that balance between playfulness and reality, but once you do it really helps your map pop :)

One of my favorite maps I drew I had two very odd polar continents and the way I placed one it was at the edges of the map so even though the map is a globe they looked like distantly different places. I tried to be fun with color and it turned out really great

This is my kind of worldbuilding. I have a half-finished stylized map with exaggerated landmarks that I'm going to have to set aside for now because I am providing my players with diegetic material - and a more realistic political map better fits what the map was made for and how its being used. I'll be introducing my players to these landmarks instead through characters and postcards from allies they make on their journey. And then I'll probably show them the full stylized map by the end of the campaign which also kind of represents the change they bring to the world. But even with the more realistic style of map, I took plenty of artistic liberties in regards to geography that should allow the world to stand out on its own.
