Disk Cart I wanted a way to display my console boxes on the wall. I ran out of room atop my shelves, but then I realized that I could pin them on the wall up against the ceiling using corner brackets. While holding the box, align bracket under box, Mark your holes, tighten it down. This worked over atop my window with little space.

2 people don't want to make their game room pop. I've really been wanting to integrate some interesting lighting into my game room. The foam board idea is pretty great, and way more sturdy than what I've been doing for a similar idea but with cardboard. Great ideas per usual!
@DiskCart5 жыл бұрын
lol if they only left a comment I could convert them to believers! we could pop their collections.. hmm . The foam board is great at that 1/2" thickness and was so dang easy to do. Im planning for a "shelf mods" video and I want to cover all these ideas. cardboard as backstop and riser as well as foam board and even window seal tap as backstop. a lot of cool shelf hacks to get into a video!
@TheGameGrinder5 жыл бұрын
@@DiskCart I did use some foamboard with black posterboard glued to it as a backing for my console stand (since the unit is black and I could only find white foamboard). Cut some slots to feed cables through and pretty thrilled how it turned out. Could be worth looking into using a backing in some of those instances where you don't want to have the deep excess space in some shelves even.

@DiskCart5 жыл бұрын
Im hoping to make a "shelving mods" video just because of that. But that foam board is pretty simple. 1/2" board can be found at most craft stores, it cuts easy and hot glue works like a dream. Its really strong as well so no worries about stacking it full of games in a cube style shelf. if using for a longer shelf id think an extra support maybe needed. But either way simple enough!
@DoYouNerd5 жыл бұрын
I really like the deeper explanations you're adding into the importance of light and depth here. The using of contrasts to make for that eye-catching appeal. Also, that DIY work with the shelf pieces is brilliant--you know I really love that stuff! Something we struggle with is having too many things we want to display--how do you choose what gets that shelf time and what, possibly, is stored away?

For your LEDs that are too close to the wall, you may want to look into some light diffusion plastic. Great idea with vertical shelves. I would love to see more controller display stuff like for Light guns. Maybe something about TV sensors /cameras placement. I made a very large Steel battalion controller stand that is very simple and looks great, but I need to take better pictures of it. I will share it with you when I can.
@DiskCart5 жыл бұрын
Yeah when it comes to led strips there is nothing you can do to get rid of the dots if its too close to the wall or whatever you use to defuse it. Ive used a ton of different products trying to find a solution for the leds around that shelf including mounts with the diffused covers as well as one diy idea which was rubber tubing you put the led strip inside of. which is what it is now. no matter what you do to get an even light off of an led strip youll need distance from where you plan to project the light. So really Im pretty close to changing the leds on that shelf and switching it up to a better option for an item like that. diffusion plastic is great but it only evens out what is already diffused by distance so definitely do NOT recommend that to people unless they have proper distance from where they plan to light thats terrible advice and could cost people money for no reason. Light guns would be a awesome video to make. theres 100's of ideas for that out there already though and its easily searchable.

stafford! awesome! Im in manassas woodbridge area a bit up 95. I used to live in fredericksburg but at the time money was an issue so i avoided that store lol. now i visit it once every other month or so. They seem very nice in there. they do have hacks and copys kinda mixed in so its a bit strange but they were pretty clear with me on what was wht inside the cases. But very cool to have a full on retro store nearby. the other big one is up north a bit more i believe i forget the name but their store front looks like a corporate buisness instead of a game store.
@GamesWithTea5 жыл бұрын
Disk Cart Estarland but I was never really a big fan of that store. The don’t have price tags, the staff doesn’t look all that friendly, most games are overpriced and the service is beyond slow. There was a store up in Warrenton (push start I believe) which I liked but sadly they shut down. I definitely don’t miss the traffic on 66 on 95 (pick your poison). There is a “newer” store in Springfield mall but the game prices are a bit too high. I used to go to Sage after dropping my wife at college ( Mary Washington). Good old times. 😊

What led lights would you recommend, I was looking at the ones with the remote that change colour, but I like the one colour that you have running, are they battery operated or are they running through the mains?
@DiskCart5 жыл бұрын
So for someone like me that doesnt like messing with too much electrical stuff I went with these : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GLC165Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Ive been through a few different brands now none of which I can quite remember. But I have exclusively used these longer led strips that have adhesive backing. They are fantastic for what I use them for on the back sides of shelves that have at least an inch of distance from the wall. The things to look for imo are the waterproof coating over the leds. Its a kindalayer of bendable clear silicone over the top and it helps to difuse the light as well as keep fingers off the lights themselves. I used leds without it and did not like the effect. The thing about these strips is you should expect the adhesive to fail. I had one shelfs strip start to peel off and the other is fine. I used the little clips from my cable management video to hold them in place and they work great. All the blue lighting on my two kallax shelves is from this one strip and plugs into one outlet. that way i can easily turn it on or off. For the light behind my tv I have a usb powered led strip I grabbed from walmart for 5 dollars i want to say they were aura leds. but they came with a remote as well. but theres plenty of brands of leds that are tv specific to fit that bill. There are other options too for mounting leds and cutting them and wiring them up but it isnt something i have messed with yet. Im still trying to work within my abilities and kinda maximize that.
