In this video, I"m sharing a tip I learned to ensure that the focus of your home theater projector is fully dialed in clearly for maximum sharpness. This is especially useful if you have any type acoustically transparent or similar screen with texture to it.

I use the white printer paper method to set up my anamorphic lens by positioning the paper between the projector lens and the anamorphic lens in order to centre and position the anamorphic lens itself.

Another thing I like to do is sit just under the projector with a pair of binoculars. You can really see the patterns well. I learned to do this back in my CRT projector days where you had to do convergence.

Thanks, just watching this gave me an idea of the solution to my problem-having little to do with what you actually shared! I have an old(at least 25 years) corporate lcd projector and a home made roll-up screen of some sort of white shiny material. I have enjoyed this for years and after not using it all at for a year or so, an unfocused area about 8” square has developed a little above the middle of the image(based on 6’ image). After bumming me out and confusing the hell out of me, it just came to me to look at the SCREEN and see if time rolled-up has created a stretched out portion of the screen. Thanks for making the idea come to me!

Hi Jeremy, Love watching your videos. Just curious if you can recommend couple of projector mounts that are using for your Epson and JVC projectors?
@Techthusiasm

I use a Chief RPA mount right now. I like the brand. If/when I upgrade to an NZ JVC though, those are heavier so might need a new mount, but I haven't researched a good pick yet for that.

So looks like this is useful for AT screens or screens that are not very smooth like Silver ticket or similar lower end screens.
@Techthusiasm
@Techthusiasm 2 жыл бұрын
Correct, it’s best for screens like that so the screen isn’t impacting your ability to tune the sharpness.

How do you mean "no settings or remote"?
@EdgetonWolfeDrezwellington

@@Techthusiasm Mine doesn't have a Remote. It's just a control panel on the side with: Power/AV Component Input/3.5mm Output, and Volume/Color/Contrast. These are turned up completely. Only controls available on the Projector. But, think I may try a Component AV to HDMI Adapter. Should hopefully help. It's ok for watching games or movies on the ceiling. But not sharp enough image on canvas. Not even close.

Sorry, but this only makes sense if you have a broken screen. Plus, I'd rather setup the projector to correct for screen flows, than get the best possible projection, which doesnt give me the best possible picture.
@Techthusiasm
@Techthusiasm 2 жыл бұрын
Hmm, interesting thought. Is it better to focus the projector in an absolute sense (in which case use the paper) or focus taking into consideration screen impact (in which case just use the screen regardless of how it interferes)? I might still think that "best" focus comes from making sure it's sharpest from the lens.
@10Filip
@10Filip 2 жыл бұрын
@@TechthusiasmReally depends how "fixed" is your screen - but the same way you calibrate the projector color to match the screen, the same I would use the screen itself to get the focus. Still, I use only a flat wall, so maybe I cant relate to using a screen.

This is only pertinent to those with textured screens which are a minority. And it has nothing to do with the brand of projector that you have. Another video whose title is misleading!

do you zoom your projector all the way to make it brighter ?
@Techthusiasm
@Techthusiasm 4 ай бұрын
Zooming doesn't make it brighter. You use zoom and shift as needed just to fill your screen properly. Usually having the projector close on its focal length and zooming less should result in better brightness.
