Great video , all this time I thought that a UPS system was my only option in being connected during Load shedding 🙌 . Now all that is needed is a hack for keeping the aircon on during Load shedding 😂

As someone who now lives on a boat, I can recommend a slightly wet towel around your neck in place of the AC :)

Amazing idea, didn't know this was possible

Virtually every router I've tested runs just fine on the R59 straight though cable. The only exception so far are fibre routers which need the more expensive R139 12v cable.

@@SailingElectra where can I buy the cables? Both the 5v and 12v?
@SailingElectra2 жыл бұрын
@@matomemalatsi3559 I bought both of mine on Loot, but Geewiz also has them. Check the description.

Or you can use a cheap 650W UPS, which will not drop your connection when the power goes out (and no plugging/unplugging of cables) I get more than 4 hours running Fibre modem -Wifi router - laptop - extra LED screen and I think the UPS has a 12V 7Ah battery inside.

Yeah that will also work. I'm not a fan of lead batteries like in the UPSs, they don't have a great cycle life. The powerbank I use can do passthrough charging, so there isn't actually a need to plug and unplug. The 20 000mah version also lasted me 16 hours during one long power cut which is great!

Where can a person pick one up for a good price?

Can you keep this setup permanently connected and then just connect a charger to the powerbank?
@SailingElectra2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's exactly how I use it. It's like a UPS just for the internet and last for ages! You need to make sure the powerbank has passthrough charging, the one in the video does, but not all do.

Anytime. With internet, a couple of lights and a gas/camping stove load shedding goes from being a nightmare to just a bad dream!

Hi @@SailingElectra My Wifi router keeps falling over, do you think I need another step up cable?
@SailingElectra3 жыл бұрын
@@Ayabuya check the voltage on your router. If it's under 12v I wouldn't use a step up cable. It's not safe running a higher voltage than specified, but there's no issue running a lower voltage. It might be worth trying a different power bank too.
@Ayabuya3 жыл бұрын
@@SailingElectra The power voltage for the wifi router is 12v hence im suspecting thats the issue for the fall over
@SailingElectra3 жыл бұрын
@@Ayabuya yeah if it's 12v you could definitely use another step up. It should work much better.
