We somehow become fixated on experiences that we can't let go of. How does it happen? Awareness and conscious memory develop gradually from birth. A young child notices the mother leaving one day. The child feels abandoned and cries and screams, like they'll never see her again. The child hasn't yet developed the concept of "later", when the mother returns. Concepts are crucial to humans contextualizing life events. Adult caregivers often forget the emotions of childhood and may never understand that children must learn to self-soothe. The child may develop thumb-sucking and attachment to a favorite stuffed animal or blanket, possibly because of its scent, look, or feel. The child will go to school and won't have their self-soothing objects anymore. The caregiver will put bad-tasting medicine on the child's thumb and take away the self-soothing objects in preparation for kindergarten. It's pretty easy to understand how attachments and addictions become coping skills. Adults often lack knowledge that helps the young develop with less trauma. It's easy to see why humans need therapy...because no one explained to them or their parents what to do, when or why. Educating a child from an early age to be capable and conscious in every moment without neuroticism or unnecessary trauma could be helpful. I feel very fortunate to have had a mother who taught 1st grade. She taught me the alphabet song and to read from age 4 (in 1956). I developed a stutter because I wasn't confident or socialized. But I had an amazing 1st grade teacher who helped me get past stuttering through reading aloud in a reading circle and working with my parents. From 1st and 2nd grade, my father, who was in medical school, taught me a lot of adult-level vocabulary and spelling. He showed me medical textbooks containing drawings of human anatomy. Another book had photos of people with different diseases or deformities with descriptive text. I learned a lot of words and concepts from an early age, mostly on my own after being shown tools like reading and books. I believe that being taught these tools helped me develop compassion. My parents took me to church till I was 14, but it wasn't like hellfire and damnation. It taught me compassion as well. It taught me to pray, which is a great coping skill, even though I became agnostic around age 15. Today is a different era compared to my childhood. I was so fortunate to learn certain concepts and was left alone a lot, unsocialized for the most part. But I discovered how to walk on my own around 2 1/2. My parents were freaking out a little I was later told. But they let it be. It taught me to learn in my own time without fear from being forced to learn before I could see the importance or have the ability. It was good to be left alone by my parents a lot before age 5. Of course, as time went on, my parents changed and not always for the best for them or me. They did their best, that I'm certain of. Realizing what they did took a long time for me to recognize. It was an era when parents didn't automatically take their kids to doctors for mental or psychological issues unless it was major. And my parents had good judgment then, before the world got kinda crazy. I had troubles eventually with moderate depression and anxiety, but I was able to find help without falling off the deep end, with limited medication. One could say I was very lucky and don't I know it! What helped me overcome my mental and psychological issues was yoga, meditation, and buddhism. And that's the order I learned them in, over a lifetime. I came to these practices through books, acquaintances, natural curiosity, patience, and a desire to live from a place of wisdom that I could recognize. The benefit of time and a desire to be alone with myself were essential to this recognition. Somehow, we receive gifts, but recognizing a gift and having time to pursue practice are essential. These days, we have the internet if we can manage to filter out the unessential distractions. There are excellent resources if we look. Thank you, Todd, for being an excellent gift and resource.

Every day I am learning to be in the moment and at peace. It is tiny steps for me but its every day and it is so nice to feel this way. That old saying, you can't love anybody until you love yourself, is about the truest saying which I have heard all my life, but you have explained it in a way that make sense. I am practising every day. Living in the present moment is just amazing.

It is funny how life reveals piece by piece. Like a child I thought how strange God is. Everybody was talking about God, but nobody told me who he is. So, I needed to find them, this secretly God. They was talking about vegetarians, but nobody was vegetarian. So I became vegetarian. They was talking about veganism, but nobody was vegan. So I also became it. They was talking about meditation, but nobody meditate. So, I started to meditate. And I even didn't know this councessly. So, everything that was use to so strange, different, wird.. I unconsciously transform to consciosusly behaving. Yes, now is wird, that they talk about New earth, heaven on Earth🙃 starseed, lightworker, that we are multidimensional being. But at the same time I even smell that this is another wird thing that I am becaming or revealing councessly.

Todd, if u see this, do you have some insight on the process of grief from loss of a loved one? I m so afraid of getting “stuck” n getting “depressed-deep rest” n not moving forward with life in joy.
