Great vid. Just subscribed. Nice tip about using Gullfoss to show you where to tweak individual elements - will try that today. And best outro ever - I was horizontal so the lullaby was having the same effect. :)

This is exactly what something like an "omniband compressor" would be, which is something I've always wanted to exist

@sleepCircle
@sleepCircle 4 жыл бұрын
@@adisatrio3871 yeah, spectral compressors have existed before, and in fact the thing gulfoss brings to the table is not QUITE that, there's a whole bunch of psycho-acoustic stuff, and… like… masking different sounds, unmasking them-stuff where it hides phase changes in the shadows of other frequencies, and i don't even understand most of it
@adisatrio3871
@adisatrio3871 4 жыл бұрын
@@sleepCircle Yeah, That's right. I've been learning and researching about the implementation of spectral dynamic processor for a few years now, and what you said is true. It's actually the same thing but using some parameter that comes from probably machine learning to help it decide what to do and some hardcoded psychoacoustic algortihm that maybe close to Fletcher Munson curve and some type of noises to reference by machine learning and help any audio that passes through to sound better/pleasant. and from that, they sliced it down to multiple variables that to let users decide what treatment that match their need/preference. Those variables become the recover, tame, bias, boost etc. with a white line in the bottom and left side as visual feedback of balance. Pretty cool stuff. I just wish it offers multiband feature to isolate different area in the same unit. the current low and high bypass bar only allow to isolate 1 frequency range. It's good enough, but would have been even more awesome if it provides more band with minum phase problem.

@@Eagles4life221 not cheap indeed, but worth it. You might argue there weremore manhours and R&D involved in the machine learning algorithm of Gulffoss hence the steep price. Not undermining Serum, but they are just very different.

Hey Dave, have you ever tied it on heavy rhythm gts let's say instead of soothe???Would iut do the job reducing harshness?
@DaveOteroTube
@DaveOteroTube 4 жыл бұрын
It would probably help with your harshness, but also affect the overall shape of the sound much more than twos. That might be good or bad depending on where you're at. I do use it on individual sources sometimes, but it's pretty much always on the mix bus.

Alright. Here's an idea. You know how all these "so and so reacts" videos are wildly popular? How about a series called "A producer reacts" and show your reactions to various mixes and productions throughout the metal genre? Dude. Trust me. You have the skill and resources. It would launch you into the stratosphere (if that's your thing).
