My weakness for travel and just day to day life in general is pouches, cases, cubes, etc. I hate having to dig, whether it's in my purse, carry on, personal bag or suitcase. Plus, I love all the different colors, sizes, shapes, and features they have. Not to mention that I seem to perpetually be on the hunt for that "perfect" toiletry bag or pouch for this or that. And with all the portable electronic devices and their cords and accessories there's yet another reason for "collecting" all the pouches, cases, cubes, etc. I can and/or that I fall in lust with. I am trying to pare down but it's a struggle. Love your videos and am so happy to one of your videos in my feed.

About the souvenirs and trinkets... guilty, I actually have a shelf we fondly call The Shelf of Kitsch with figurines and bobbleheads from vacations past. But I've found some tricks to keep that down to ONE shelf and yet still satisfy my fondness for kitschy things. If you decorate a Christmas tree, most of those little tourist shops have ornaments that can remind you of your trip, and they only come out once a year! And for kids - my parents used to let us pick out school supplies, which again those little tourist places have lots of. Pencils with their favorite theme park characters, a ruler from the children's museum, that sort of thing.

For souvenirs I try to go for things that I use anyway. I have a beautiful leather bag from one travel, a stamp for scrapbooking from another place, etc.

That's a great idea about the travel documents, you can also plug the expiration dates into your Outlook or whatever planner you use to let you know when things will expire. I usually set the notice about six months prior to the expiration to give myself plenty of time in case there are delays for some reason. Besides passports and drivers license, I have work documents that have to be maintained also and if they lapse, I can't work, simple as that. I do the same thing for my vehicle documents also by putting everything in one business-size or larger envelope. I've looked around for pretty glovebox wallets for this but nobody makes anything I'm looking for and are far to generic for my needs. The envelope works just fine for holding your registration, inspection certificate (some states have a certificate in addition to the sticker), insurance card and copy of insurance policy. I just label the envelope "vehicle documents" so it doesn't get confused with anything else and it helps if it stands out by being a different color than normal envelopes. Great video as always and looking forward to your next one. 👍✨🔥💥

Hi Laura, nice to see you again. It's not exactly travel-related, but my weakness used to be those cotton reusable shopping bags. I had about 30 at its worst, but I've managed to donate most of them. We have hidden our suitcases in the loft, where we don't need to think about them for the time being! Downstairs sorting first!! 😳😳😳

Where can you donate cotton reusable bags? My favorite charity won’t take them.

@@judysbakeryandtestkitchen1654 I’m surprised as my local charity shops are desperate for any kind of bags to wrap things in now that free plastic bags are phased out (UK)! I also use them to put gifts in. Instead of wrapping paper, a bit of coloured tissue paper, then into the bag, tied with a ribbon or raffia bow. It works well as my gifts these days are often consumables: nice bottles of wine, fizz or unusual cordials or interesting nibbles, chocks, biscuits etc.

A added tip about currency, if you keep it check yearly that the currency is not changing. Here in Sweden over the last few years well before covid we removed some coins completely and switched out coins and bills. The year they were switched you get your value back at Banks but after… Yeah a few years back working in tourism we had a guest who have saved lots of coins included the 0.50 SEK we no longer have and were now useless, not even banks might switch them in. So, even though it Might not happen that often especially with things Like Euro that work in several countries… Still might be good to at least do a anual check and potentially transfer it back to your own currency while you Can.

Not sure if you mentioned this but I always (needed) to clear off photos from my phone, before the trip, so there’s room for new. But you can bring a external hard drive, but attach to to something, so it’s not forgotten. I ask me how I know.
