I’m not sure if it makes a difference or not but when mixing ferts it’s always a good idea to mix them into your entire volume of liquid. The larger volume of water helps to dilute the mixture and prevent nutrients locking each other out. I think having all three of those dry fertilizers mixed tiger then adding water my have them sloshing around at really high concentrations. Again, i’m not sure but I think it may be a better way to do it.
@LoganRandoAquascaping Жыл бұрын
Chemicals do need a certain amount of water to properly dissolve but this recipe accounts for that. If you wanted to make very concentrated ferts you'd need larger volume, but not in this case

I didn’t know you could do this, definitely worth the money in my opinion. I can $50 easy a month on ferts….

Greenleaf aquariums :P :) i spent $50 in 2016... i am still using the same ferts :) :) awesome video and this topic should be discussed quite frequently

How did you get the Micromix amount from Rotala Butterfly? I see "EDTA Fe" in the pulldown menu. Is that it?

Thanks for the video. I noticed that the Green Leaf Aquarium micro nutrients contain higher copper than the all in one fertilizer I currently use. Will this be alright to use with my shrimp?
@LoganRandoAquascaping10 ай бұрын
Yup, I've bred delicate shrimp in tanks with these micros. They're not even close to a dangerous dose

Growing green algae is super easy without any ferts at all. Just blast the light on max for 8+ hours a day 😉

what about mg in the macro solution ? I gla toturial they add to the macro mg powder . do you recommend ?
@LoganRandoAquascaping5 ай бұрын
I add MG and CA separately through dry powder minerals but you can totally add MG to your macros if you'd like

some sites say to dose both macro & micros everyday at the same time. some sites say to dose alternating days as per your video. i'm confused which dosing method to follow. also, after water change on sunday, is there a rest day or do you start the cycle right away?
@LoganRandoAquascaping Жыл бұрын
Don't dose on the same day with DIY ferts

Hi Logan. Thanks for another great video. I just thought I‘d mention that we lost a great aquascaper this week - Felipe Oliviera. I, as many others, am shocked at this sad news and I was wondering if it were possible for you to perhaps feature Felipe’s work and give him honour for what he has brought to thw world aquascaping community. I believe that us peers should acknowledge him in our content on our channels. Do what you feel is right. Rest In Peace Filipe (1975 - 2023). Much love from Downunder.

I keep thinking about this because I see higher nitrate levels before a water change but then my plants also show slight signs of potassium deficiency. So I imagine I can tailor it to counter this to my setup skipping some or all nitrates?
@LoganRandoAquascaping Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, that's the beauty of DIY ferts. You can customize to suit your personal needs.

@LoganRandoAquascaping Жыл бұрын
Hi Gaston, I didn't say anything about dosing twice in one day. You dose daily, and vary Macros and Micros every other day :)

As long as you keep copper concentrations under 1mg/L in your aquarium, yes.

Yup, like the other commenter said, just follow proper instructions when creating your ferts.

You may want to correct your description: P is KH2PO4 K is K2SO4 😉 So what is you total weekly dosing amount in ppm of NO3, K and PO4?
@LoganRandoAquascaping Жыл бұрын
Thanks Damian! If you put all those values into Rotala Butterfly it'll tell you the specific targets

Did you mean to say you like to use 1 ml per 10 Gallons in the recipe for dosing?? Sounds like you are saying 1 ml per gal. You have dosing a 2 ml for 20 gal tank in the calculator.
@LoganRandoAquascaping5 ай бұрын
You're correct: it's 1 ml of fert per 10 gallons of water. Check the description for the recipe and dosing

This is the missing tutorial! I’ve been a customer of GLA for a while now but I’ve always been scared of their fertilizer products. Their website explanations are really not good.
