A demonstration of my technique using Decal Pro FX. Not easy at first but do-able if patient and organised.

Great for small one color decals but I am doing large full color graphics does anyone have a supplier for the larger sheet of the blue paper in the kit? I cannot follow Frank Miller instructions they are incomplete or are contradicting.

Great video but can you just clarify the solvent and contact adhesive you use for White. As I understand the solvent you use is Super Glue Activator - this is prior to bonding with the Mylar film. You then use a contact adhesive on the finished graphic (with a mask) prior to applying to the panel. What conatct adhesive do you use? I plan to try this system for the re-labelling of vintage Leak amplifiers which were always labelled with white silk screen...

Hi John, this video is a bit old now but thank you so much for making it! So hard to find information about this product from people who have used it successfully. I have a question if I may - is the paper in the kit just plain old waterslide paper theyre using (the one you print on). Because I tried doing the same steps you did in the video above, both with cheap ebay foil and actual decalpro fx foil, and no matter what I did I could not get the image to transfer to my surface in the last step. I was rubbing forever but it would not release from the carrier mylar. The only difference I had was that I dont have the decalpro fx paper, I was using cheap ebay waterslide paper (which of course came away as you'd expect in the water - just like your video). Any help would be so appreciated.

Hello friend!!! I see in your video that you dont use the Sulky kk2000 that is normal in the decalpro fx kit. What is the adhesive you use? Works it great? Thanks

Hi John, Great video. After watching this a while ago I bought the system and also the same laminator as you use. I am finding it hard to find more of the KK2000 spray adhesive and wondered if you have any good sources to get this in the UK.

Hi John, Thanks for the video, Making a panel for an RV7 aircraft and noticed you were doing decals for a panel too. Could you tell me what paint you used over the top of your decals? Was it a matt finish? Was 2 pak 2k paint ore just a rattle can? I have a can of PlastiKote matt, but not sure if this be ok. It is going ontop of a two pack black painted panel.

David Glass . Hi, I wouldn’t recommend an aerosol spray. I used an aerosol laquer and its cracked already. I have done a second panel since and we used a local paint shop with a oven finished paint and laquer and this has turned out very well. Flat the colour down before you apply the decals as you can’t risk touching or contaminating the surfaces and wear gloves always. :)

Wonderful job!! :] I have a few question to you. Can I use any laser print water slide decal papers? And when I used laminator, the gold foil transfer on the water slide paper. How can I fix? Or how can I succeed? Actually I want to transfer only letter and logo. Please teach me and I am sorry for my english skills.. :(

Great Video! Thank you for spending the time to share that on KZbin. To label the row of switches at the bottom of the panel, would you do it with one or two long labels? Or individual labels? I'm thinking one long labels will keep the lettering better aligned with each other, but might be difficult to install? I need to label some instrument panels in the future, and will defiantly use this this system. Thanks again, Phil from Alberta, Canada
@JohnParker19678 жыл бұрын
+phil kite . Thanks for the kind words. I just thought more people should know about this produce rather than putting up with the naf looking usual stickers. I think I did them all together so as to keep them aligned. A great product IF you have the Patience.

I get all the way through the procedure until I get to the point of transferring the image on my model. The image won't stick. It comes off on the mylar, not the model. You mentioned a solvent. What type of solvent are you using. I am frustrated, thank you, your answer would be appreciated. Thank you, Robert Brown.
@JohnParker19674 жыл бұрын
Robert Brown . Frustration yes. The solvent is the activator for 'miter glue' or super glue. I tried all sorts to create temporary adhesion to the Mylar. Good luck it is possible

Hi. I used a different white hot foil. I got a generic product from eBay. It comes in 75mm to 100mm wide rolls. In fact it's easier to use as you will see on the video I made a roll hangar for it. As you will find though the white is the trickiest. But. The eBay gear was better to use. Search white hot foil on eBay. Let us know how you get on as there is a lack of knowledge with this product.

@@JohnParker1967 Blue carrier board paper, after printing face up, apply silver foil, run through heat press, then peel it off, then run it through the HP laser printer again printing on top of the foil, then spraying 4 double coats of Nortica Hybrid Poly on top of the blue paper. My graphics has reflective gold lettering (required) and the silver foil makes the gold ink pop. Now after spraying is cured... dip it in the warm water, slide off blue carrier board, dry the slipped graphix on paper towels and then face down dry, apply Liquidtex acrilic paste carefully only to the ink back side ... flip face up and position onto wood substrate. Roll out bubbles from center out, trim with Exacto knife excess, clean dabb off any squeeze out of the edges off the already Nortica clear coated wood. It is important the Nortica is used, because it truly is moisture and water resistant and does not blush. Important Cure for 6 days. Apply the Nortica Hybrid poly 4 coats lightly sanding after the 2nd coat. Anyone can WhatsApp text me USA 011-502-599-0020

I can get everything perfect up until basically the very last step - applying the graphic and removing the mylar carrier. No matter how exacting I follow the instructions, part of the graphic comes up with the mylar...every time. Very frustrating. I'll watch this this carefully, thanks for the upload.

John, what program are you using for your dry labels for aircraft panels...I'm having one of carbon fiber water-jet, and just purchased this system. So far it's the best I've seen, but I'm clueless as to what program to use for the labels fonts, and switch layouts with lines for switch groups. Thanks..
