I wish one of those tutorials out there will show how to apply TINY dry transfer decals into TIGHT spaces. I have been struggling with these tiny ones on my new gundam. Many tutorials tell you to use a masking tape, but that's really a joke if the decal is not large enough for you to steady the decal with one hand and stick the tape with the other. You really have to use clear tapes so that you can see exactly where the decal's going.

I remembered applying dry transfer decals to my MG Hyaku Shiki (1st version) with scotch tape and a quarter and it worked just fine surprisingly.

I remembered using this kind of method when I was worming with my dad before as an artist. I usually help him transfer black letters to on to a card board or some part ofnthe paintings he did as part of my training back when I was a little boy so, it goes the same with dry decals on gunplas. Nice. I prefer it then compared to water decals. Imma try it later on 😊

Use a stylus to rub the transfers. You can get them in nice pen size and shape, and they only cost a few dollars. If you're planning on building enough models, it's well worth it.

put a decal onto my Ground Gundam's shield while this was going. Used the rubber tip that came on my tweezers to rub the decal on. While they were on my tweezers.

Hey Henry, I build RG's almost exclusively and use their included sticker sheet for the decals. Even through some top coat, the sticker film become a little unsightly when seen up close. Can I apply mark softer on them to remove the film after application?

I see. Then I should either start buying and using waterslides where I can or just go the extra mile and painstakingly trim the stickers with a hobby knife. BTW, got any tips for me when building the MG Shin Musha (the red one)? It's gonna be my first MG.

Still think plain old stickers look best and are easiest to aplly if good quality, but when they're not available for what you want to do it's good to find a tutorial on how to use these nasty dry rub buggers.

I think they won't stick until after you rub them. And holding the dry decal in place with your fingers while you rub would be very risky: The dry decal may move while you are rubbing.

Also noticed your airbrush tutorials never cover your clear coat preferences/process (which brands/types you like to you). You have some commentary on using Krylon during a WIP video from several years back, but I'm guessing you may not use that consistently. That would be interesting to see :)

To be hones, I'm a bit disappointed. For some reason I was under the impression that unlike water slide decals, dry transfer did not rely on carrier film. Clearly, I was wrong. It may be just as susceptible to silvering and other clear coat issues plaguing water slide decals.
