In this small project I will show you how to build a custom ESC/Servo Tester. Along the way I will show you how to setup the timer of the ATmega328P in order to create the required control signal. At the end I will then add tactile switches, a potentiometer and an LCD to adjust the control signal easily. Let's get started!

Nice video!!! , I was wondering and looking for a hot swap battery pack, I want to use two 2S 18650 7.2v battery packs and be able to switch them if one is out of juice so I can have a continuous output, something more nice than using 2 diodes. Any ideas?

I work with batteries quite often, and it depends on how complex your battery pack is, as well as the chemistry of the batteries. For standard 3.7 volt lithium ion cells (like common 18650s) in simple configuration (single, 3-series, etc.) there are many cheap options available that will do the trick. However, I ended up designing my own for some of my bigger projects involving complex custom series-parallel packs or less-common chemistry like LiFe.

Are you taking suggestions? Long ago I built a metal detector with just a magnet, coil, and multimeter. I could use a nail detector, but have no time or workshop to test. Any simple ideas on using an Arduino and pw/frequency modulation? And thank you for the inspiring projects. I’ve built a few of my own designs after seeing what you have done.
