Use corn starch instead of flour in the gravy for gluten free filling. Of course, you'd need gluten free puff pastry as well to not poison yourself if you have celiac disease (like myself) but still! Pretty much any time flour is used to thicken a sauce it could be substituted with corn starch without any issue at all, psa 💖

Jack K corn starch is gluten free. Using it for this dish would be a little different because it needs to be mixed with a cold liquid first, instead of stirring it in with the hot filling.

Hot tip for anyone wondering corn starch works really well in lemon squares too! In small amounts for baking and setting pies and custards corn starch is amazing 🙌🙌

Jack K I’ve both never heard that from my doctor or anywhere else and I’ve never had an issue with either corn or soy, both are huge in my diet. I’ll have problems with gmo things like boxed rice or potatoes tho🤷🏼‍♀️ Corn is a gluten free grain unlike barley or rye. I guess they could be like oats and have an issue with cross contamination but still, corn is literally gluten free bud and so is soy. If you could cite your sources there I’d love to read where you got your info.

YAY! Kiki's Delivery Service was the first Miazaki film I ever watched, and the Herring Pot Pie is definitely one of the most memorable deliveries in the film. Nom nom nom, pot pies are so lovely in Winter, but I have never had one with fish before. I might need to try it.

That was my very first anime movie, as well as my first Studio Ghibli movie. It was shortly followed by Spirited Away, and my first PG-13 movie was another, lesser-known Ghibli movie: The Castle of Cagliostro! Which is on Netflix now!

I was SO happy to see this! Ghibli food is automatically iconic just because they can make even bacon look more delicious. More Ghibli food! Maybe Kiki's cake or Japanese-style cream stew that they had in Arietty!

Okay guys, I made this. Herring wasnt available near me, not even frozen. I went with Sole. I also used butternut squash because it was the closest I could get to the pumpkin the recipe calls for. It was to die for. So delicious! This is going to be added to our recipe box for sure.

I made this recipe for thanksgiving 2020 and it was very good! I used canned tuna fish 🐠 and mixed with kambocha squash covered with biscuit dough! I loved the sweet grandma, her grand daughter was very rude. Her grandma made her a pie for her birthday and she made a nasty comment that she hated the pie! I love the sweet grandma!!
