Apparently the easiest way to "make" your own dust cover is to have someone else make it. Brilliant.

I illustrated how to make it on your own if you have the gut (i tried) and a good tip on how to find someone able to make it for cheap and how you want it. I wish I had that tip before trying and trying with shops and online idiots.

Sleezy Steve I think the point is that you can try and do one yourself but for a few extra bucks you can have some professionally do it to ensure it looks great. Acrylic is kind of annoying to work with and I can’t see you making one at home without glue.

My thoughts exactly. "I'm gonna tell you here how you fixa your air conditioning ... you could use the bottle of the Freon or you could fix it yourself by calling someone who fixes da air conditioning. It's almost like you did it yourself except a professional did it and charged you $600. You are welcome".

Im also glad to see, that Dustcovers can be made d.i.y. style. I need help for my N4520 Taperecorder. This Machine has a Dustcover but the preowner has treatened it horribly so it has a lot of cracks and some smeary glue stains. I would like to know how cracks can be fixed without glueing it?

Hi, i`m so pleased you made this video because i`ve been wanting to make some sort of acrylic clear plastic covers for my various amps, cd player and record player and you`ve now inspired me to do so. I also want to make acrylic covers for my vinyl and cd boxsets. I looked into buying plexiglass acrylic online and its quite expensive so i`m going to research acrylic manufacturers in my area and go the route you advised. I always appreciate your excellent videos. Thanks.

I made my own dust covers out of textile material very inexpensive and really work well for all audio gears. These days it can be done via 3D printing out of clear plastic glass similar to the one you made.

Thanks for this great idea. I need a dust cover for my ReVox B215 cassette deck. Well I ordered one online - on ebay. It took forever to arrive, it cost a fortune and I only had it for one day, as it didn't even fit my B215 - it couldn't stick to the cassette deck. So first time I moved my deck it fell off and broke in to four pieces when it hit the wooden floor. This is the plan to have a new one made in acrylic plast. Again thank you!

Great idea for a vid. I find it odd that a lot of the higher end turntable manufacturers offer dustcovers as extra, and they cost a lot too. Luckily, I just remove my dustcover when listening to LP’s. I also find that Novus products can get your old dustcover or even a newer one with just a few scratches looking like new again.

Ahh i forgot. Some say its not allways Plexiglas, it can be Polycarbonat. Im just talking with the aim to fix brokenor cracked Plexiglas. So its ve4y important to know what it is before glueing with chemicals

what is the thickness of plexiglas for curved sides?
@anadialog4 жыл бұрын
You decide! No limits. Remember that more thickness means more expensive and much more weight.
@SDsailor73 жыл бұрын
So how do you make it?
@anadialog3 жыл бұрын
As explained in the video, you can buy pieces of plexiglass and join them chemically. I have should the chemical required to do so or, tip, wish I had this tip, make a design and go to your local plexiglass industry, lab etc. and fully customize your project. Obvious for many, fundamental for others.

Do you leave the cover on when you play LPs? Many say that the turbulence caused by the tonearm in an enclosed space will actually add rumble to the sound produced.
@StewartMarkley4 жыл бұрын
Turbulence, really? That's a good one. 🤣
@anadialog4 жыл бұрын
I made a test. If it is attached, it is better to keep it closed. If it is not attached obviously it's better to remove it completely during playback.

Love every single one of your videos. Just a couple of questions on this one. First, is your turntable dust cover also diy? I’m trying to figure one for me, in a little uncertain on dimensions, and yours has the elevation over the tone arm, that little bubble. Lastly, does it have hinges? Sorry about the many questions, but I loved watching this video and its ideas

Music is born and consumed in analog but it's recording, storage and playback is hurt by analog. I do like this video though.
@analoguecity34544 жыл бұрын
Really? Have you heard a 15ips or 30ips reel to reel? Nothing digital can touch it! Digital is clean, but its dull as dirt!
@StewartMarkley4 жыл бұрын
@@analoguecity3454 Yup, I used to work in recording studios in NYC in the 70s, also worked at CBS and cut test record masters. So I am very aware of analog technology and digital technology. Vinyl was good in it's day, but it's far inferior to the CD or DSD. And practically nobody has much music on tape, another format that has seen it's best days. Digital technology isn't the reason for poor sound, it's the engineers, producers and record execs behind the music that is the problem.

If you read the title it is perfectly correct. It does not say how to make but make and I did this video because several people asked me to do so. By tye way, I also tell the chemical to actually make your own or were you thinking of making plexiglass on your own at home?
