Terrific Video with the SKUTT system! After high recommendations from a professional potter who throws big, It worked great thanks to your step-by-step modeling. It gets easier and better with repeated tries, I promise. A couple hints to add: It worked great on a thick piece of glass for smooth surface results, and remember that the plaster stops working well after exposure to the moisture in the air. Work outside with a hose nearby for clean up between sets (There will be a lot of plaster flakes everywhere that you don’t want in your clay.). Best to cast the entire plaster bag on the same day if you have high humidity. I probably won’t use dish detergent as the nonstick agent on the molds next time, perhaps spray oil or specific separator.

you talk about how much plaster to use for both bats but what's the amount for if only doing each bat. my wheel head only came with the smaller bat mold so the 1gallon to 12lbs of plaster would be way overkill for for just the smaller bat. this info doesn't seem to be covered anywhere.

Does that ring snag your finger when you pick your nose?

Would this system fit a vintage Amaco 4-401? The wheel head is a deeply recessed and my research tells me it takes a plaster bat system, one that has no molds in existence

Can you use regular plaster of paris or can you only use pottery plaster?
@EnglishLinguist3 жыл бұрын
ONLY pottery plaster. It has the correct absorption ratio and plaster of paris will crumble into your pieces and ruin them.

shouldnt you be wearing a mask while you trim too??

Nope. no dust created while trimming

Do you think one of these will work for my Aspire pottery wheel? I would also need to add bat holes. I'm interested in the GR Pottery forms and their WA system which fits on a regular size wheel head to make plates out of slabs. The Aspire has a 7.5" head and I want to make it the regular size. Your video looks very promising.
