Got mine in the mail today, wired it up, and nothing recognizes it. Cant update the firmware, because I cant get the driver program to recognize that I plugged the stick in. I have the home and share wired up to start and select on my madcatz stick so that I can have them both pressed when I plug it in. Seems weird that it's home and share, and not options and share. Are there any extra windows drivers I'm missing? I just get an unrecognized usb device error.

@QuintMarvel7 жыл бұрын
A little more research and I discovered that, yes, you COULD just leave it banging around in the case. However, if you want to, Focus Attack does sell little plastic feet with glue to hold the PCB.

Ah, I see. I looked up PCB kits and Focus Attack also sells ones where the PCB's have holes in the corners. I was actually thinking about getting a Mayflash F300 and putting in that whole setup in there when the original parts poop out on me, basically screwing in the new one where the old one was as long as it fits, that is.

since there is no analog control, even if you could map it, it would be less than ideal.

Most games will not automatically detect a dpad for movement. However, as long as you're playing on PC, you could get a keyboard pcb and solder buttons to it. I'd recommend looking for a busted mechanical keyboard, as it's much simpler to solder to than a rubber membrane. Then you'd just tuck it in a box, and you could hook it up as a regular keyboard.

They changed the PCB around. This version isn't offered anymore. The equivalent in-production board is the PS3/PS4 Fighting Board Plus. It's available at all the major arcade parts vendors in the US. Honestly, it's set up even better than the old Breakout Board version (NO soldering required, much easier to figure out and better-supported at this point) and is more useful for people looking to upgrade their older joysticks (generally Mad Catz joysticks) and keep their turbo panels. Depending on how you want to use it, you might be ordering more harnesses. The most useful harness right away is the 20-pin which has the quick disconnects for all the buttons you'll reasonably use (4 kick, 4 punch, Start, Select, Home) unless you want to make your own quick disconnect lines which will take at least the better part of an hour and generally won't be as neat as the 20-pin harness (which costs $13 BUT how much does it cost to get all the wire, quick disconnects, AND tools you need to make your own QD lines?!?). Other features like Turbo and their use depends on the existing PCB you have. It's kind of silly to spend $50 on a PCB, though, for PS4/PC compatibility. There are cheaper options out there for half the cost (don't ask me -- I honestly don't know the better options besides brand names but think anything sub-$25 is fishy and probably won't work as well as higher-cost, established brands) OR if you know how to solder well, you can buy a basic PS4 pad and use that for a controller/PCB board for half the cost of the Brooks PS4/PS3 board.
@call_me_p1cklez1015 жыл бұрын
@@AvengerII could you give a link for the parts thanks man!
@AvengerII5 жыл бұрын
@@call_me_p1cklez101 FocusAttack, ArcadeShock, or ParadiseArcadeShop are the big three that stock arcade parts in the US. You can get just about anything you need from them. I CANNOT direct-link to websites off KZbin because they disabled that ability months ago. Only the guys posting videos can have offsite direct-links. You can get kits online for $20 that will have all the parts you allegedly need BUT the levers and pushbuttons included with these kits are CLONES (a polite way of saying "KNOCK-OFFS!") and they're not up to arcade spec and will probably break quicker. The PCB's included with these kits are MINIMAL and there's no guarantee they will work with your PC in some cases since they may not be built for XINPUT which is the basic USB requirement for PC compatibility. The cheapest boards will almost certainly not work with anything beyond PS3/PC. The cheapest PS4 board is the Brook Fighting Board (with PS3 compatibility) unless you want to scavenge a Hori Commander Pad for its PCB. The Brook Fighting Board (the one most sane people buy) is easier to install since you don't need to solder BUT they make you pay for ease of installation. That's why the Brooks PS4 board is double the price. They offer this board ps3-pc-zero-delay-usb-encoder-pcb-american-style-controls (on Focus Attack website) but it's ultra-low budget and again, only PS3/PC. You'd have to buy adapters for anything else, those like $35 minimum, and this board doesn't work with all of them! The advantage is that at least you don't need to solder and it's cheaper to buy this in bulk for an arcade standup/MAME rig or if you want more than one joystick for PC/PS3 and don't care about anything beyond basic compatibility. You can spend as much as you want building a custom joystick but sometimes it's just cheaper to buy a gently used joystick. (This last Christmas, they were selling BRAND-NEW Hori PS4/XBone joysticks online for $70!) A lot of those people will sell for $70 locally, even for current-generation joysticks. Online, a used stick will probably go for at least $100 brand-new (with shipping if you're lucky) if it's a PS4 or XBox One joystick.

@@AvengerII is there one only for a PS4 version trying to make a fight stick for Tekken 7
@AvengerII5 жыл бұрын
@@call_me_p1cklez101 The Brook PS3 / PS4 Fighting Board Plus is the only PCB that has PS4 compatibility built in. The other PCB boards out there you have to add the PS4 functionality in with an adapter (and the adapter is AT LEAST $35 by itself). The cheapest way to get PS4 compatibility is to padhack (the Hori Commander Pad is recommended because it's common ground) and that requires soldering. Otherwise, the Brooks Fighting Board is the cheapest, NON-soldering solution out there. Sorry, but that's how it is. The cheapest replacement PCB (the older Brooks Fighting Board that doesn't have screw terminals OR harness pin support) out there is $40 but you have to solder EVERYTHING to it. Other than that, there are converters out that will let you use older generation (PS1/PS2/PS3) joysticks or even XBox 360 console joysticks on the PS4 but they're all $30-$45 themselves. Most people prefer the converters because they don't like messing with PCBs and rewiring things but those converters get sold out all the time. Look it up on Focus Attack's website and you'll see... It's viciously expensive but that's the way it is and has been for at least two console generations now. They'll make changes for the next generation of consoles I'm sure that'll make the current joysticks on market obsolete for those machines UNLESS the developers beg Sony and MS to allow backwards compatibility with joysticks on SOME game like they did Street Fighter V this past generation. You could get a Zero Pi PCB ($12) that's compatible for PS3 and THEN get a converter ($40, PS3 to PS4) for it but even that's at least $53. There is no cheap way to do this and nobody wants to tick off Sony with "too cheap" product.

Since it is wood, what do you use to prevent it from mold to occur?
@Fundando8 жыл бұрын
I do not use anything. I have a wooden stick that I have used for over 8 years and I have never had mold build up. Then again, I live in Las Vegas. It is dry down here.

Nice to see you include a joystick wiring harness for .187" connectors, but is there an option to get a button harness for them as well? I'd love to be able to use this to make a stick with IL buttons.

I do not make this product and would ask the folks at focusattack. Or you could just crimp .187 connectors. they also sel .110 - .187 adaptors

I have a client who wants me to install this Board and Breakout board, but the board did not come with capacitors pre installed. Do they need to be installed?
