amazing stuff you're putting out there, keep it up! but on a side note the fact that backgrounds in the 60-70s was in that quality is because tv (unlike theaters) back then couldn't display detailed colors so they opted to simple looking backgrounds.

What if you tried doing the line work on the front side and the colors on the back? That way you dont need to flip the image your tracing and the lines cant react or bleed with the color? Of course this would mean waiting for the linework to be completely dry first before flipping the cell over but that seems like a better method from the perspective of someone who hasnt done it before.

That would totally work, but it wouldn't look right. Having everything on the back with the flat glass as the surface facing the viewer gives the appearance of a perfect smooth finish. Also, you will get a bit of "parallax". Due to the thickness of the glass the linework and colors would only appear to line up when viewing it straight on. At any type of angle they would appear to be offset from each other. I hope this makes sense.

What kind of paint did you use?

The background is painted with artists acrylics. The cell linework is done with acetate ink and the colors are testor's model enamels.

Do you do custom animated cels?

I have made custom cels but only for myself. Due to the fact these things have a couple pieces of glass in them, they tend to be too delicate to ship.

I see what you mean, but I consider it vintage for the subject matter, 1960's spiderman. As opposed to 80's or 90's cels.
