Thanks for sharing Trena, My tips to small channels 1. Create quality content relevant to your Niche only. 2. Publish at least 2 videos a week. 3. Do youtube SEO, such as mention your main keyword in Your file name, Title and description (within first 20 characters). 4. Add timestamps manually 5. Don't use video tags excessively. 6. Add related videos inside video description. 7. Hook your viewers within 15 seconds.

I've been learning from you, Trena Little, and am now in process of my own 'glow up' of my initial thumbnails. I am proud to say that because my channel niche was clear, and I was creating well-researched, totally original content, even though my 'production quality' was low, my very first video got an 11% CTR, my second video got 6.9%, third got 11.6%, and fourth 16%- all on a little faceless channel that explores the connections between yoga and mythology! I'm proud of ME!

@@TrenaLittle oh thank you Trena- it means a LOT when content creators like yourself acknowledge comments! I appreciate your hard work, and for being a much needed female voice in a space so dominated by (almost all young white) men! when you said you were in your 40s, I was shocked, as you look much younger. I think your age is a bonus, and adds to your credibility- it made me take you more seriously after my first dip into your content (I think there is a 'suspicious bias' when first assessing a new face on youtube?)

What I see a lot of coaches do they post very solution-aware content. However 90% of your audience is most likely problem-unaware. To get them to ready to buy state you have to elevate their awareness to make them aware of the problem and a solution which is YOU!

Is it worth updating your thumbnails and titles for old videos? At what point is it kinda not worth it?
@TrenaLittle4 ай бұрын
I would look at the audience retention of your videos first... if the retention is good, like over 35% average watched then I'd consider changing title or thumbnail. But if you see in the first 30 seconds you've lost over 50% of your viewers, I wouldn't both and just focus on what you do from today forward

Hi Trena, thank you for sharing this extremely valuable information. I have a small, very small kids channel where I read aloud story books, this niche is very saturated with some extremely popular choice channels to choose from. I am also a former elementary and preshool teacher. Reading is my jam, I often wonder if I should actually teach how to read-instead of just reading. I would love to know your thoughts. Thanks a bunch.

awesome idea to focus on the higher level content per basic/beginner level content. Aside from you, I've only seen one other creator suggest this. @TrenaLittle4 ай бұрын
I can understand, but 50+ is a niche but you could tweak it a little too by thinking about a niche as a theme. Is your content to help women/men (you could pick one) feel confident in their 50s? To get healthier in their 50s? To dress better? To share makeup help or skin care help? You could start there and once you channel gets traction you can always expand your niche.

I checked out your channel. At first glance your thumbnails are a bit too cluttered, try simplifying and use less text and more contrasting colors. I am a small channel just like yourself but I think I have thumbnails aspect of content creation handled. Also make sure you create your thumbnails before you even write a script or record your video. Idea - thumbnail - title, then script and record. Hope this helps.

I am planning to ditch this channel and restart with another with a slightly different take. When I first started the channel, you could find it at the top of a KZbin or Google search, because I picked a unique channel title that was searchable. KZbin/Google apparently does not like the topic and ideas in my channel, because now, searching for my title on Google or KZbin does not show my channel AT ALL. One of my videos shows on a KZbin search, because I put the title of my channel in the video description and the tags - I think. I tried this with a few other videos, and it did not move them to be searchable with my channel title. A Google search is even worse, and shows NOTHING from my channel, not even anything remotely related to my topic. Doing a search on Duck Duck Go or Bing results in my channel being the very first result. To get a similar result on KZbin or Google now, you need to put my channel title in quotes. Of course I need more content, and need to improve production, presentation etc., but I think it is an uphill battle with KZbin/Google with this current channel. Try to find another channel with a unique name does not show as one of the first results with a KZbin or Google search! I do have another KZbin channel that is still making me money even though I have not posted on it in 4 years. I plan to start posting again there soon as well.
