I started a channel to do two things. 1. Make a video playlist of my life journey, so when I pass away, my future grandkids will know me. If others watch, great, if not, that's also great. 2. My retirement lifestyle.

New sub! A lot of large YT forget to REMIND their audience they have a TEAM of people - usually at some point - to HELP them. They treat their YT channel like a BUSINESS - invest in it like a BUSINESS. That is WAY different from us mom / pop creator folks who do it as hobby. GREAT video and so appreciated.

i started KZbin in 2022 and got stuck with random videos then I vacuum for almost 1 year until I heard and learned from everywhere. Now I decided to come back with new theme and some topics that I hope it will be useful and give benefits for my audiences. I uploaded 1 or 2 times in a week and I can't believe I got more unique viewers since I did YT with support to each other system. And I left that way and try to grow naturally and I feel more excited. Even my viewers now isn't alot yet but I am happy when I check my analytics. Thanks for sharing and added my knowledge beautiful Trena☺

With how hard it is to make videos, film b-roll, film without being out of focus and redoing it a million times, edit the video, color correcting the poor filming I have time to create, etc, I am happy if I get one video out per month. I'm happy to hear the ADHD style is fading. I watch those videos and I think to myself, do I need to do that? By the way, what is going on with the end screen links? In every video I have watched in the past couple weeks, the end screen links happen closer to the middle of the video. Or is this just me?

Thanks for the info. I really enjoyed the niche discussion. I do a fishing channel with my young son, and I sometimes worry that we do too many different "types" of fishing. However, I was more concerned about not getting bored on the videos and, more importantly, exposing my son to lots of different types of fishing. It keeps us excited about the adventures. So hopefully it translates to audience as we grow.

I will say, they probably did double down on the few topics that took off but they are also testing different things, they are also really studying their analytics. Thank you so much for this honest take and reminding me I can do "off topic" but still appealing videos. I feel like my "risky" videos sometimes perform better - so it makes sense when I think of my target audience over topic. I think another lie is the idea that you have to collect emails right away with a freebie printout or digital something. False. My diehard audience will sign up when I actually have something good to put out. The people who have already unsubscribed frankly would unsubscribe from my emails too. Maybe not the very next day, but they will. I'd rather have a quality freebie or have the bandwidth to do a good newsletter before I collect emails. Thanks for the SEO chat too - if I search engine a specific topic, chances it's a one-off thing I need. I find way more in browse for my daily viewing enjoyment than searching. I want hangout audience. If I have a topic that can be searchable, cool, but it's not my only strategy.

I only make shorts. My target output has been 3-4 shorts per week recently but I've noticed I am starting to slow down now in pursuit of higher quality (better script/idea/visuals/voiceover etc), which is not a bad thing I think. Since I've been busy making videos in July/August, now I have a content library of 18 shorts. I feel less of a need to grow the quantity now, so I'm focusing on making better videos at a slower cadence.

In other words, common sense never hurt anyone. Especially, in one's self-employment journey; youtube or not. As the author above stated, (Obviously) if you're bored .. so is your audience. Even in this video I was inclined to ffwd through half of it. If it's not interesting to you it's not interesting to the audience. Why? because it's your audience filled with folks just like you. Any sustainable success takes time to build. Always has been that way, always will be. Even youtube itself didn't turn a profit for nearly a decade. It's not for everyone, but out of those who persevere, a small fraction will see a decent level of success. A tinier circle will achieve better than that.
