I have watched videos of woodworkers making spindle sanders, but if there was ever any doubt that your channel deserves its name, this video is the best answer. And the filming quality of the video is top-notch, as always.

I love the fact that you guys re-purpose old stuff and turn it into functional stuff. I mean, reusing old shockabsorbers never came to my mind for anything!

Shocks are chuck full of parts (even the spent oil inside is useful as lubrication). To throw them in the bin is a really wasteful thing. Whenever i decommission a set i chuck them on the lathe, cut the welds and if the shocks aren't that rusty, i get a rod, a few small valve springs, high pressure seats (where the seal goes), the tube itself, the large spring, seal seats from the neck, which you can weld unto other projects, a Y joint. Like i said, why would one throw that out when it's a DIY guy's treasure trove is beyond me, the rod alone, is probably 50 dollars worth of high quality steel that can be used on lathe projects, even if it's pitted or rusted, it's still high quality steel.

Not to mention the treadmill motor too
@Hellsong894 жыл бұрын
As mentioned high quality steel with corrosion resistant finish. I'm building DIY lathe using one as the axle.. just need lathe to make treads to connect to chuck i found for free including just right fitting cone bearings and pipe that if slightly sanded pressure fits the bearings. Dunno who, but someone spent pretty penny on those and trowed them into metal bin, from witch i saved them. Soon i'l be able to make some round parts, just need to start looking heavy I beam as frame for the lathe.

Great work, to help it extract dust better, put some rubber bellows between the dust inlet and the underneath of the table, this will force all the suction to be around the workpiece 👍
@donovanleeds40124 жыл бұрын
Love it! Only word of caution I can give is to use a vacuum for the bulk of the wood dust before using the air compressor. Too easy to breathe that dust in since it hangs around in the air for a while.
