Can't wait to race! Thanks everyone for watching, I'll of course be doing plenty of filming at the Expo though if you can make it to the event, I'm confident you're gonna have a great time!

That was THE RC car to have when I was a kid in the 80s.....

Sure was in 1987 when I got into rc. I knew a few kids that had the Hornet, Frog, Falcon, Fox, ect but the Grasshopper was probably more popular.

awesome, my first RC was the original Grasshopper, I think I was in grade 7...saved up bought the car, ended up building it myself (brother and dad were taking too long to help) and of course I was impatient...so I managed to build it, yay...and then realized it would take me several more months to save up for the radio etc :(

In 88' my older cousin got the grasshopper II. That was the car that got me into the hobby.

I recently found my box of old Tamiya RCs. Including a Frog, Grasshopper, some Midnight Pumpkins, a Falcon, a bunch of Clodbuster parts, and my race winning Fox with a bunch of Japanese hop-ups. I loved racing that Fox.

For the few bucks a handful of bearings costs, it is smart to at least install them in rear end during initial assembly. Shooting the body White before the decals will avoid the plastic from "Yellowing" that is inevitable. Definitely would like to see more vintage buggy events show up around the U.S.A.

I had one of these as a kid. Kept me occupied for years. Eventually became a lowered road runner. Flipped the front arms, went with a 5-link rear.

Love the Grasshopper II, I had a Jethopper when I was in Primary School in the 80s. I remanded the spotlights only surviving the 1st couple of rolls!

R/C Everyday Josh is an outstanding guy. Oh those plastic yellow shocks..... Have fun and very generous of you to take it easy on the competition. ;)

I have an older brushed motor that I'm going to install in my grasshopper when I get it. It's a 540 comp motor I pulled off my Hotshot which is now using a brushless motor and esc .

Great! :D One thing I would do to de body, I would clearcoat it after decals.. They wont ware that quickly then..
@ennoandreesen81003 жыл бұрын
With normel clearcoat for cars and stuff? Do you think this will help and not damage the decals or makes the optic worse?

I love that JX servo, cheap as chips, super responsive and never let me down, I have it on all my RCs and not gonna choose any other brands.

I had the Hornet, way back when, and my buddy had the grasshopper. We upgraded the front wheels with knobblies and put in better front wheel bearings. It improved the handling in looser surfaces like sand or soft mud.

Heck yeah buddy! I was about to not bring my buggy and then I saw your video. Now I have to figure out some electronics for it stat, 2 days before I leave, in a snow storm, lol
@MakeItRC4 жыл бұрын
Nice! Good luck getting it ready. If you need a servo, I got plenty more of what I used for mine. Hope the storm doesn't hit too hard, weather isn't looking the best for a 13 hour drive on my route to Florida 😅. Might just leave early. Stay safe and see you there. 👍

I can attest, it'll hold up to brushless and 3S quite well. Needs mods for the battery to fit of course, but the transmission is more then up to the task of holding up to some pretty gnarly power levels. The hard part truely becomes driving such a crazy beast. ;-) :-)

Hello I got one with the lime green body and I installed buggy light pods on sides that work remotely, has aluminum rear blue shocks and silver aluminum rims. I'll see if I'll post a video of it for you to see 😉. I have purchased a few of your stuff on eBay btw 👍

Have you seen the new release of the Black edition it has four CVA shocks and the front shocks are in a different position that has ever been on any grasshopper.
@bradkalman23534 жыл бұрын
If I had this version of the grasshopper I would get CVA rear shocks for it only.
@bradkalman23534 жыл бұрын
The grasshopper I have I run a dirt tuned motor on it and on my hornet that I will be getting I have a GT tuned motor for it.

JD passel he ran an original hornet with a brushless motor so that's not true that they don't hold up to brushless power.
