I like the Fiji water bottles because the plastic is so rigid. Instead of cutting off the bottom I drilled a hole using my largest Forstner bit.

When I end up with extras, I've got some small plastic jars with screw caps. In they go, then into the fridge. They'll keep for 3 or 4 days like that too. Just a thought. ~Ron

Have u tried using marine salt instead of aquarium salt? It buffers the ph very well and the trace elements are good for plants

Yes, big fan of marine salt

There's a guppy breeder on KZbin (Albert's guppies???) who is in a much poorer country than the USA. He raises absolutely beautiful guppies, and he feeds them BBS. He hatches the eggs in a jar lid that he sits in a sunny🌞 windowsill.

I just discovered that Amazon has ready made caps for the water bottles used in home-made brine shrimp hatcheries.

This is good, What mesh size was the net you used for the brine shrimp?
@MakeMoreFish Жыл бұрын
I'm not entirely sure because it wasn't listed but my guess is 120 micron

@@MakeMoreFish Sounds good Thanks. Just wanted to see what would work since i know some nets have a bit bigger holes.

I really like this 2.5g set up you have. What did you do to hold the PVC pipes in place? Also, do you remember where you found that net?
@MakeMoreFish2 жыл бұрын
there is a rectangular PVC ring around the base with 3 T joints to support the vertical lengths. It's all glued. The net was from amazon. Try searching for brine shrimp net

I’m using a Ziss hatchery and having problems with bad eggs sinking to the bottom that even with rigid airline sitting at the bottom has them collecting with the bbs. Tried a bunch and my hatch is a good rate but the small amount that don’t float I can’t help from collecting out of the bottom when first opening the tap. Worried the eggs could harm my Cory and danio Fry

I hatch baby brine but it’s more than I can feed in a day in my fish room….. other than freezing I can I keep them to feed my fish for the next couple days? Fridge?
@MakeMoreFish6 ай бұрын
They will die, but ya. You can stash some in the fridge for a couple of days.

Hi, can I know if I m using bottle of 1.5l type. By putting 3 or more teaspoon of brine shrimp eggs, how much or rock salt should be advise to put in? Tq 😊
@MakeMoreFish2 жыл бұрын
I think the amount of salt should depend more on the volume of water being used. For 1.5L I would try 1.5 to 2 tablespoons of your salt
@jasonericala3 жыл бұрын
Have you thought about raising brine shrimp to adults in the same aquarium you put the baby brine shrimp bottles into? The water is heated anyways just add some salt

How do you keep the temperature up if you don't have a warm designated fish room available ?
@MakeMoreFish2 жыл бұрын
In this video the bottles were mostly submerged in a warm water bath. You don't have to use extra heat though, it just helps to hatch faster. They'll hatch fine at room temp it just takes 36+ hours

Can you just raise cpd fish on micro worms then Gringle worm when thay get a bit bigger ?I have started to cultivate these two worms , I have just started to breed cpd I have about 50 cpd that have just started to free swim I am feeding power at the moment , the reason I'm asking is it seems a lot of work raising brine shrimp ...is it hard to raise and keep brine shrimp ?
@MakeMoreFish3 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you can get some growth on young fry with microworms. As they get larger it might be tough to keep up using grindals. I'm not sure how quickly they reproduce. Brine shrimp take a small amount of work each day but you can hatch whatever amount of eggs is needed for your fry. I don't raise the brine shrimp, just hatch and feed. I recommend them for many reasons but the short answer is yes, they do take some work

That’s a lot of work. I bought a device on Amazon that doesn’t require air, light or heat. It has a baffle system to separate the eggs from the hatch.
