So excited to see this series come back! I feel that shows like this are what will take the place of television in the future.

Thank you Lucas Weakley! I have been thinking about building a tri-copter for a few years now. Maker Hanger season 1 was a big inspiration for me this series has me even more pumped! I'm glad you refranced David Windestal he is another innerspring person.

I'm happy you took the time to mention David Windestal. I've been watching flite on youtube off and on for a couple years and he does great build videos and multicopter reviews. I look forward to watching this series and maybe I will finally take the time to build one.

Man, this series is going to be even better than the first one!!! His series, along with DiResta (who's a GOD maker, man!) and Vsauce are my favorite KZbin videos of all times! Thanks for all, Lucas!!!!!! You're amazing, man!!! Can't wait!!!

Hey Lucas, could you a little bit more about your quad. It looks cool, and since I want to build one of both I might model them after yours.

That's a very nice looking tricopter frame. I might add that one to my tricopter collection one day, when I've worked through my current build queue. The only thing I don't like are the over-sized pushrod holes in the yaw mount. See 6:30 - they are much larger than the wire diameter. That's no good. A more rugged and play-free method would be to use screw in ball joints. Does this frame support metric sized screws and arms (such as carbon arms)? I live outside the US, where imperial sized hardware does not exist.

Lucas, on your open coming scratch build would you do a segment on what deflection is, what it does, and how to setup the aileron and elevation deflection on your future twin boom build.
@LucasWeakley10 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, all the videos have already been filmed. But I can write a blog post about it on makerzine.com in the future.

Thanks! Very informative! I had always wondered about Tri-copters, since it seemed that everybody jumped on the quad/octo bandwagon (not that they don't have their uses, too).

How much additional weight can the tricopter lift? is it possible to mount a gimbal, camera and video transmitter?
@LucasWeakley10 жыл бұрын
I have a GoPro and FPV transmitter on mine and I never go full throttle because it just climbs to fast. I'm sure if you added a gimbal it would be a bit sluggish, But I think it could handle it.

The tricopter kit website doesn't mension this in detail enough... I'm guessing you only need one of the 4 items listed under flight controllers ? Is there a markable difference between them ? Is there a "best" ?

Episode 4 will go into depth about these boards, so stay tuned.

Lucas Weakley Consider this vote #1.
@brianwalsh560610 жыл бұрын
I'd also like that. Mostly because the kit could be built for your parts so modification wouldn't been needed as much. Heck if you made a MIT that included ever part including the camera I'd consider it.

Well, telling everyone to order from the same place I get my parts from was a bad idea lol. Most of the important components of the tricopters have been out of stock for weeks and that means I can't get them to make the kits that include electronics. I'll be looking out for the parts to come back in stock, but are you guys still interested in purchasing these kits? Thanks
@Prence10 жыл бұрын
HMMMM, this would be great with the addition of a GPS module, camera, and a Arduino. You could program the Arduino with GPS points for the drone to follow and get video. Be great to patrol your property if you have land that has hard to access parts. Have the drone fly out there, get pics or video and fly back, all unmanned.
@rafalpilat14510 жыл бұрын
A quadrocopter would probably be better for things like this becouse its more stable.
@Prence10 жыл бұрын
True, but this is DYI. and that's what makes me more interested in it.
@rafalpilat14510 жыл бұрын
Prence What do you mean by "DYI"?
@Prence10 жыл бұрын
rafalpilat145 Really, I meant DIY. But you knew what I was talking about. If not I can't help you.
@rafalpilat14510 жыл бұрын
Prence I was thinking you were probably talking about DIY but i just wanted to make sure. Also, You could also custom make a quadrocopter and that will also be DIY, A quadrocopter would be better for connecting an arduino, and making it controll the drone so it flies without anyone controlling it.
