North Pacific in Bend, Oregon made the Sleek Streek a little "15 rubber powered ROG Balsa toy airplane. with the right tuning they would fly for about 30 seconds. I built a scaled up slowflyer RC version of the Sleek Streak as a biplane at 33" and 260 square inches of wing area. It will fly at a little over a slow jog at 1/3rd throttle, weighs 4 oz. with a 300 mAh 2s pack.

Oh man! Those balsa wood, rubber band powered planes - YES!!! They were made by North Pacific. Comet Models bought out North Pacific and Comet were in turn bought out by Guillows. Guillows still exists and they still produce these simple, all-balsa planes. The names have been changed (to protect the innocent?) but you can still get them and other similar designs as well. So glad you mentioned them - thank you!!! Fond memories.

I Like It! Just what I need for flying across the street so I don’t have to go all the way to the air park, which always has more wind than in town. It’s about the size of a football field. Perfect. And truth be known, I’m kind of a niche pilot. I like small things. Planes, gliders, drones, ham radios,etc. 😂 Little planes = little problems = small expenses.

I built a Gentle Lady and taught myself to fly with it and a small homemade hi start way back when. Your Ultra Stick flies a lot like a GL. Slow, so it gives the new pilot time to think until the reactions become automatic. That must have a very low wing loading. No doubt you could shut the motor off and thermal it in the right conditions. For teaching yourself to fly, first a computer simulator, then a model like the Ultra Stick would work. But you have to have the patience to wait for a calm day and you have to find an open area with no obstructions. Nice model !

I built A Gentle Lady 2M Sail Plane in my living room about 30 years ago, covered the wings and fuselage in Solar Film and put a TD Cox .049 engine on the front. Went to the local flying field and spent an hour trying to get the engine started but when it did the Glider went above the Clouds and we lost sight of it for about 2 minutes, after it dropped below them it stayed up in the air for about 30 minutes before coming in for landing.

@tauncfester30223 ай бұрын
The late, great Grand Wing Servo Pico Tiger Moth was slower, heavier but a biplane and much slower. Now if this was a biplane it would be a lot calmer and slower. considering it's small size and weight you could fly this with more up trim and less throttle, but an extra wing would make this perfect.

@EDCandLace2 ай бұрын
They are very easy. I taught my son to fly a gws slow stick. Set it up as rudder on the aliron channel. Plane flew a little slower then this model but it was a straight 3ch plane with no "Safe"/stabilization and it took me about 10 times of letting go the buddy box switch to save the plane and that was it he was fully capable of flying that plane within 5 battery's at about 8 mins a flight with absolutely zero assistance. With a fully stabilized flight mode you could absolutely take this plane out and learn to fly. Just go to a nice grassy field so you don't break anything during the first couple crashes and by the time you have 4 batteries thru it you will be able to fly it without much of an issue. High dihedral planes like this with just throttle rudder and elevator controls fly incredibly easy and with the light wing loading they are very slow and stalls are nothing more than a drop of the nose and it recovers. Absolutely fantastic plane to learn on!
