I'm not exactly sure which cable you're referring to. If you mean the main cable that plugs into the screen, then just follow the wire as you take the old laptop apart. The connection for mine was taped down so that it wouldn't come apart on its own. It was also covered with foil. I had to fold the foil layer back, then peel the tape off the connector far enough to unplug the cable.

If you're sure you're done with your laptops, carefully take them apart and remove the screens. DC port:2.5MM and 5.5MM inter+ outside - That should be enough info to find a power supply online. You'd need a supply that provided 12vdc capable of 2amps or higher with the + on the inside. The issue at 6:31 occured before the raspberry pi finished launching. Although I did see it after I assembled a frame for it in another video and ended up putting too much stress on the screen by tightening the screws down too much. Hi there and or hello First of all thank you for the tutorial In this video but I got an question to take it an step futher because among this and all other videos I did not have ever seen anyone refurbish an laptop by putting an raspberry pi inside. Why, is this such a ridiculous thought. If I see you connect an old laptop screen, then I guess that shouldn't be such a problem to do this with the keyboard and the trackpad too. What's the problem if you put this all together in the old case too. What are your thoughts about it. Must be enough space when you remove the old board and hardware
@MakeFixUpgrade4 жыл бұрын
@Hans van Binsbergen that's certainly possible. The processing power in the raspberry pi would be less than what was in the laptop but there should be enough room in the old laptop case. You might need to create some custom adapters to connect the keyboard and mouse but it would be worth a shot.

I don't think I'd try to power the board off the pi. If anything I'd be more likely buy a power supply that could power both. With the proper conversions you could power both. And yes I think something could be rigged to trigger the monitor on when the pi is powered on.

In this case no, the control board is not the motherboard. You order the control board for the screen based on the part number on the back of the screen you want to reuse. For mine some come with a remote as well, but I wasn't interested in that so I settled on one without that. I mainly wanted to confirm it had hdmi. One thing you can do to be more sure on the board is to look at the cables in the listing up close, at least one end of them should match the cable ends that plug into your screen.
