@@ReaverPrime I think I literally died inside when I seen Manillo chase that coin for the first Time. When I caught him and realized I could trade fish for the best loots it was just the best. I caught a minimum of 20 of everything after that so I’d always have the trade value I needed for anything at any given time. Though 20 whale was hard to accomplish. Black bass I had more of on my no healer runs though. Most useful fish all the way up to right before the end.

The way I always theorized the connection: Breath of Fire IV is the prequel. Yuna lives after the events and Elena's monstrous form resembles Myria so I like to think that he was able to summon a grand demon spirit to possess her body to create the evil goddess. Breath of Fire prologue then occurs where Myria/Tyr was first captured and locked away with the 6 keys The events of Breath of Fire occur where Myria/Tyr is defeated. Breath of Fire 2 is already canon as occurring 500 years after the first game and Deathevn is an offspring of Myria Breath of Fire 3 - Myria returns and creates the desert of death (evident by The End screen that she made it) to wipe out the advanced civilizations and then sends the Guardians to get revenge on the Brood. @@YuubiTimberwolf but then, if ryu from 3 stayed alive there would be more brood in the world during 4 BUT its what the dream teepo says to ryu which are the exact words Fou-lu used at the end of 4. i like to think that the end of 4 was the start of the broods history. Ryu got rid of the endless power but he was still in that world as a mortal. same as the other dragons in 4, so he must have rallied them together and made the dragon clan. thats my theory anyway. oh and that ryu and teepo are the reincarnations of fou-lu and Ryu respectivly especially with how teepo looks like fou-lu with how he uses magic in the game.

@@dabada110 Don't think they are direct reincarnations. Rather spiritual succors. The light and dark dragons. This is a point in the first game. That the dragon clan is philosophically split. Ryu for the ideals of the light dragons and teepo for how dark dragons see things. But you can see in 3 that they, as kids, got along fine. Maybe some disagreements but generally they think the same about things. If 4 is the start then it goes back to the two warring halves of their origin. That dragons as a whole are basically the same but fall into two different schools of thought.

Breath of Fire 2 is my favorite. There's also a really good Fan Translation version of it. 1-2-3 are connected. One interesting thing to note is the (SPOILERS) Wing clan. Nina in BOF1 can became a great bird when she came of age. In BOF2 they lost their power because someone (Nina in BOF1) married outside of the clan weakening the powers overall. The only way they can become the great bird is through a ritual because their power has been weakened so much. By BOF3 the option for Great Bird just doesn't exist.

've always considered BoF2 and BoF3 to be alternate timelines to whichever ending you get in BoF1. BoF2 happens when you use Agni against Myria's true form, completely destroying her and bringing about DeathEvan. BoF3 happens when you don't use Agni and Myria is revealed to still be alive after the ending credits and Obelisk is still intact, leading to the final battle against Myria taking place in Obelisk (Station Myria) in BoF3.

For me personally the Breath of Fire series I think needs a serious reboot. Possibly take the first game and remake it for modern consoles so that people can re familiarize themselves with the series in order to gauge if the series can compete with other RPG franchises. Breath of Fire saga does have fans still waiting for any hint of Ryu and Nina's adventures continuing in some form. But I think Capcom needs to refind what the identity of the franchise is. One of the key elements is Dragons Defy the Power Structure. This is prevalent through the series on whether it refer to Religion, Demons, Gods or a Government. I think Capcom just needs to figure out what the series identity is again and Breath of Fire can slowly make a comeback if they give it time.

Breath of Fire V is my favourite in the series. It kept up the series tradition of fantastic music. I love how the weapons and skills work and the locations are match the theme of the game so well. The story gets so tense and it was great learning about the characters. I love Breath of Fire III, I liked II and I didn't mind the original. I haven't played IV yet, but I have it and can't wait to play it.

I would say you can argue all the games are connected. II is a direct sequel of I, and III has shown that the events of I were distant events in the world's past. I would even argue IV is part of the series, but as a prequel. I think the ending of IV ( SPOILERS ) shows the birth of the Dragon Clans as seen through the previously released version of the game. Around the end of III, it's hinted that mortals will destroy the world without the guidance of a diety, and I think BoF V is the distant future that shows a world where it was, indeed, destroyed by mortals. I've always thought of BoF4 as the first game in the series. It does a good job opening the series up, explaining how gods come to the world and that the infinity dragon was BY FAR the greatest of the gods brought to the world. It also explains why there is always a duality between good and bad dragons. Ryu is always reborn as the light side of the infinity and fights some form of the dark side originally represented by Fou-Lu. The goddesses know the history of the world and try time and again to stop the rebirth of this ultimate god because they know he could destroy everything if he wanted to. The reason Ryu always chooses to preserve and defend life, however, is Nina. Nina is the one that finds him in 4 and in every game her presence influences him toward protecting those weaker than himself. After BoF4 comes 1 and 2, and by the time 3 rolls around Ryu is naturally prone to these tendencies, doesn't like using his power, and defends Nina by instinct. Deis supports Ryu against her sister because she knows about this dynamic and Teepo being able to talk to himself through time is the influence of Fou-Lu wanting to tempt Ryu to finally give up defending the weak. That was always how I interpreted the series.

I've never heard the theory that connects 3 to 4; that's pretty epic. Ryu fusing w Teepo to become Fou Lu and then later breaking free after eons... that actually fits quite well this series needs a reboot as badly as chrono trigger/cross needs a third installment to complete the trilogy....... it needs a new installment w the dragon gene system of BoF3 and maybe a companion anime series to expand this series still has a lot of potential for sure. and that's not even to mention the nostalgia. it would be amazing to see the series come back

The first 3 games are direct sequels, chief. Same tribes, same goddess as an enemy, Deis is a direct reappearance, only not relegated to special extra OP character. The story follows the results of the two follow up wars sparked by Myria & Dark Dragons. The living village can be speculated to be a direct connection to the buried dragon village in BoF2 where Light Dragons fought to keep Deathevans sealed. Many, many context clues--including Wyndia's existence--can be made. But the scrolling mural at the title screen, that then became the plot point in the game itself, should have been the biggest clue all 3 games are connected linearly.

The last iceberg entry is an absolute stretch ngl. 4 pretty much explains the struggles within the dragon clan (narrated on 1's intro), and Myria turns out to be a perfected artificial endless that may or may not be created by Yuna. The desertification is undone via the goddess' wish powers (which she does A LOT in the events before 1). Timeline goes 4, 1, 2, then 3. This would also explain why after the demise of Myria in 3, the games are no longer in the same continuity.

@@karayura10 it's difficult to get Missile/Bombada. You need to grab up the Magician in Yggradil's Memory and NOT have his House Occupied already. He also has a proto-Affinity system? Which is affected by things you say to him about magic without HP or AP being at the proper levels. If you "irritate" him he'll teach you something else. So yeah, best to have 1 & 1 then talk to him after loading.

Breath of Fire 1-3 are directly connected. BoF 2 even mentions the fact that Nina2 is a direct descent of Nina1. BoF 3 mentions the war of the Dragons from BoF 1 and Bleu's connection with Myra. There is supposedly a new FF Tactics game, a remake or something. With the popularity of remakes these days, I am confident another BoF is in our future.

Interesting video! Oddly, I remember there being distinct plot points in BOF 4 revealing that it was in fact another world, where they summoned folks from other worlds to become gods, and when they were done being gods they would become dragons. The Naga character, I forget her name, explained this, because she was upset at being summoned and made a god that way. Likewise, your main character was summoned, but somehow split into two half-gods, the Emperor and Ryu, and split across time. I could easily see the first three being the same world, though, and the one that said gods were summoned from.

if i recall correctly the endless/gods were summoned to that world and were then trapped there, which was the case at least for myria, deis and fou-lu. fou-lu's and ryu's conflict is resolved at the end of 4 (presumably ryu wins) while deis and myria are stranded in that world. myria is pissed and tries to conquer/destroy the world while deis couldn't care less and just goes to sleep

I think BoF IV was a prequel. You see the birth of the Dragon Clans at the end of the game, and it explains where Deis and Myria come from in installments of I, II and III.

I grew up playing Breath of Fire I and III, but never played II and IV until I decided to 100% all of them this year (2021). I had a blast going through all of them, but II and III are leaps & bounds my favorites. That being said, I can honestly say that Breath of Fire is my personal favorite RPG series. I even prefer the lighthearted atmosphere and pure Japanese quirkiness of the BOF series to the more cinematic and sci-fi inspired Final Fantasy series. Love that series too! I gave Dragon Quarter a fair shake, but it just wasn't for me. Hopefully some day we can get a TRUE Breath of Fire sequel that borrows some of the themes seen in the first four games. I would be near the front of that line - no problem.

Dragon Quarter is a fair installment, as it was also a bit of experimentation on their part with the formula. But I agree it wasn't developed enough to make it feel like it completely belonged. Kinda like the middle step child of BoF. Where as 6 is the one everyone wishes to ostracize from the family.

I am late to this party, but this is easy for me it goes 4, 1, 2, then 3. The reason is when you look at the final boss line up. In four they betrayed the Fou Lu and you beat him as as tech evolved and world destroyed itself you get number 1 which is the goddess(Myria) trying to prevent a repeat of what the Emperor had done and the fall of the world once more. Then you have BOF2 where the final boss is a dragon and then the Goddess Myria after these events learned her lesson and created the dragon slayers leading into the death of dragons and eventually leading to the re incarnation of Fou Lu(Teepo) and his counterpart Ryu which once again leads to the death? of Teepo and the Myria once more. P.S. BOF also reveals the actual name of the dragon species is the Endless.

Bof3 is a direct sequel, in a later part of the game, there is a mural depicting the final battle against myria from bof1. And the dragon god Ladon is present as a statue in all 3, though he is more forgotten as time passes And it is arguable bof5 could be in the same timeline taking place underground following the events told in bof3 where myria decimated the world as the place where myria lies in that game is a high-tech city.

BoFIV is the first in the timeline showcasing how the dragons went extinct and the creation of Myria/Tyr by the evil scientist that didn’t perfect his experiment with Rei’s sister, but was still alive to continue his work…BoFIII is actually the last title in the timeline with everything culminating in vanquishing the Goddess and Ryu giving up his dragon powers once and for all!

Ummm, the sunder scene is in the game. I remember giggling at it when I was a kid. Maybe it's only available if you beat Balio and Sunder at the treehouse? Can't remember...but I remember the scene.
